Hi all, I'm on my first little outdoor grow. I have three photoperiod Romulan plants I started from seed. My girls started flowering first week of August, so they're about 6-7 weeks in. Fall weather in my area can get very cool/wet and I'm doing this for hobby/personal use, so I'm trying not to harvest too early but I'm willing to cut if any mold etc. problems start to appear. I've been looking at trichomes through a 60x loupe w/ a light but I find it difficult to see. I bought a USB microscope and took some pics yesterday. I've looked at a ton of comparator pics online but I'm still struggling to tell whether these are cloudy or clear. Can anyone help me out? Ideally I'd like to wait til they're about 90% milky with a little amber. I like a lil couchlock.

Thanks in advance :)

just wait till all the hair turn orange then check it again.

Patience buddy.. your getting their... when them mushrooms start showing some amber.. you are just about their.

(mushrooms.. slang for thrichomes )
Its so subjective I know about how long and check a few different sites, if they look OK I just pull the trigger. It's not that serious as long as you aren't super early or super late

You still have a few weeks to go on these plants, it doesn't look like any of the pistils have even turned brown yet. You want most of the pistils to turn brown and start receding back toward the bud a bit as well as a mix of cloudy/amber trichomes (the ratio of cloudy to amber is subjective as it comes down to personal preference). Less amber = more head high, more amber = more body high

Hey Romu.....what everyone has said pretty much sums it up.....

I personally don't like the total couch-lock.....not my cup of ☕.....on that note,

Your plant definitely has some time before the ambers start showing....wait till most pistils are brown in color....it is all preference, but if you pull now, it's too soon....give us updates....

Thanks guys, I’m nervous about the wet weather coming but they are ok for now, have good air flow and I’ve figured out a tarp situation for when the rains are very heavy. Two of them are a bit further ahead than the 3rd, showing more brown pistils but I definitely will wait and re-check trichomes in a while.

Appreciate the help 🌱

I agree with others on waiting another 2-3 weeks but I’m also a firm believer in sampling an early bud or two and giving them a week to dry and test smoke. I’ve sampled a plant 2-3 weeks apart to know its flavor/strength progress. It’s always nice to get a taste of what you got growing. This way you can have your cake and smoke it too.

I would cut shortly. week off max. still have some clears
but I like my weed speedy and euphoric
Depends on your taste dear grower 🤟

You're looking at the leaves. They ripen long before the bud bracts so avoid the leaves. Best practice is to look in the nooks and crannys between the bracts, as deep as you can.
You will be every disappointed if you chop before they are ripe.

You have to wait for all the hairs coming off your bud to turn from white to orange. Don’t even think about chopping until then. Only then can you look at trichomes. Which is when you will look at the trichomes on the buds not on the leaves. The trichomes on the leaves will turn amber way before any Other ones
