HELP! Hot Soil or Lack of Nutrients??

I have three plants currently all the same strain, they’re being very sassy, I have not fed them any nutrients and I’m using ph down to make sure my run off is at around 6.0 to 6.8 .

As you can see we are having wilting and rust spots, I’m currently using FFOF and my only thought is the soil is too hot?

Room temp is 70 and humidity is around 55 to 60.

You think it could be light intensity or heat? The top leaves barely have any yellow on the tips. I never used Fox Farms but everyone I see with problems is using that soil or an all purpose soil (maybe its just cause its sold a lot in the US not because it causes problems and all the newbies with problems come using that soil).

Too many nutes? Too little? I dont know with that soil but it has organic ammendments. Do you have microorganisms?

That soil is sus af. Its meant to be used for organic growing with microorganisms. Did you add them? Do they come with the soil? Do you use tap water? Do you get rid of the chloride and chlorine if so? The ammendments that soil has wont work very well if you dont have beneficial microorganisms. Specially knowing that lately FoxFarms is selling worse stuff to meet demand. I doubt they let the ammendments decompose over time if theyre uncapable of letting their compost be fully composted (hence why so many critters sometimes in their bags)

" 6.0 to 6.8" Also thats a very high fluctuation. Keep in mind that below 6 unwanted metals like alumina can be absorved by the plant, toxic for the plant and toxic for you and its in your soil. I would try to keep it at 6,5 or close in all of them.
6,2 veg, 6,5 flower in soil. If youre growing 100% organic you can go to 7ph, the microorganisms will poop the food for the plants, still I use 6,5 in full organic for a bit of a faster intake.

I know that ffof has a bad rep for that, but really it’s not that crazy hot, I know you or I would throw a seedling in it walk away, and be fine. It think it’s the combination of heavy hands with nutes, and a soil already stacked with plenty of food.

As far as the heat/light intensity, man it’s a big driver of issues these days. If you look at the leaves the lowest ones yes they’re yellowing and stuff like that and N is definitely an necessity but if you look at the plant, it’s the side that’s closest to the light that’s yellowing. It looks like the other side of the plant is nice and lush and dark green usually a pretty good telltale sign, some of these cultivars are extremely sensitive to these LEDs at first now. I could totally be wrong here, but I’m also looking at the cupping of the leaves as well. It’s not extreme yet but it’s definitely there.

I have two vivosun 150 watt lights at 25% intensity and about a foot and a half from the plants

Output is good. Def close tho.
I never go above 40% in veg either.
These lights nowadays. Even the small panels, crank.

Looks good and I’ll definitely move the lights further up, I’m a little worried about adding any Nutrients but if you are all saying hey add some nutrients I’ll pick some good stuff up later today.

next time you water be sure you have runoff and check the ec from it and take the guesswork out of it. are you using tap water?

I do allow run off for sure so I can test the ph, and yes I’m using tap however it’s well water high in calcium and manganese. So to bring ph down from 7.8 to around 6 I use ph down. And usually the runoff is around 6.2 to 6.5

I have some FF Grow Big but I honestly don’t know if I wanna use it again my other plants that are finish up outside look great from it but I think I rather go with dry amendments. Specifically the Down to Earth Brand as that’s what I can get near by

Your plants are starving to death. Your ph'ing down for no reason and have wrecked the soil. There is nothing wrong with FFOF. Depending on plant/genetics, lighting and environmental conditions a plant can be fine in the soil only for 2 to 3 weeks. Then it will need fed. Either organics setup when you start the pots or go on liq/chemical/salt ferts when needed. Anytime plants get unhealthy or stressed the wrong way to much light always makes the situation worse. At that point the perfect amount of light can be to much light. If your hell bent and bound to ph your water in a soil grow get it to 6.5 and stop watering to run off. You worry about ph in coco and hydro and even then it's a balancing act with ppm. Those pots look awful small and small pots can bring stability issues to a soil grow. Good Luck!

I may have but the moment they grew their first leaves they were burnt like that and the water I was using was distilled when they were seedlings. So the ph down with my well water is needed.
