My light…Mars Hydro SP3000…at 24” above the canopy…is at like 800ppfd at 25% power….

I’m using Photone with an iPhone 11 and a paper diffuser….

This is just ridiculous lol.

Anyone know WHY this is happening? Is it accurate, and I’m just stupid? If I actually put it up to 75% it says like 1400!

Uhhhg.

Did you calibrate it? You also need to use a diffuser. It also depends on the quality of your phones camera.

I had issues with that app also and just bit the bullet and bought a par meter.

my mars hydro ts1000 about 18 inches above my plants reads about 250 at 50 percent using the photone app , it must be yalls phone with all the crazy numbers i been seeing

the phone i use is motorolla and i have not had no problems with it and i got another phone that i downloaded the photone app on it says the app doesnt work with that phone period lol

iPhone comes factory calibrated AND I also checked it on a different brand new iPad! Same thing! Same reading! So either the light is stupid powerful, the app totally blows, I’m super stupid, or Apple makes terrible products! Gotta be one lol.

it is the fact that apple makes there phone to only work with shit apple owns

I’ve just heard sooo many people swear by Photone! That it’s pretty accurate….but I’m not so sure now lol

If it really does put down over 1000 ppfd at 60%….i would think plants would burn at 75%, but they don’t…so I say it’s the app lol

you have the right to your own opinion even tho it is the wrong one lol

i just think you should calibrate the app with your light , the photone app explains how to do it instead of using the factory calibrated setting

the SP3000 is a high intensity light. It puts off more ppfd than normal grow lights.

I’ll just go by what the plants ask for this run, and then I’ll post results! I’m in week 3 now.

I keep my lights as far away as possible. Start with the light as dim as possible. When the leaves look like they are praying just before light out they need to be turned up

So get this…I ended up moving it up as far as it would go, and increasing the intensity to 75% ish and was reading like 800-1000 PPFD….which is absolutely insane considering the manufacturer says 24” at 100% for flower lol. I compared readings from a couple old lights that I’m certain of the output and actually had a friend bring his PAR meter over just to make sure this app is close. To my flippin surprise, the app is pretty close!! So that means that this SP3000 has some SERIOUS horsepower in a 2x4 tent and I’m thinking about just putting 2 in the 4x4 because the PPFD is just off the charts AND it’s the most evenly spread I’ve ever had!! Crazy!!!
