Bud Rot is Killing Me!

You need a different strain and/or breeder, I go through it every year. You'll have plants sick AF and right next to them the other plant will be fine it's 90% genetics

I'm in agreement. The Indica plants are doing fine without a single instance of bud rot; the 4 of the 6 Sativa's are a problem almost daily. Next year, I may just get Northern Lights or anything I can find close to an afgan strain. I think those might do well here (Cape Cod).

I'm experiencing a huge catipillar problem on 2 of my 4 plants. The damage will look like grey rot if it's left on the bud and not removed quickly. If you found 3 i assure you there are 20 more you've not found on 1 plant and yours are much bigger than mine.
It's a big job as you've found out, spraying at least 2xwk with BT and inspections daily not just a minute on each plant but at least 10min looking at each branch throughly. That's why i only grow what i can handle. I don't mean to sound harsh it's the only way to have very healthy productive grows and it makes me feel better if i've done all i can but i can't control what nature does or weather.

Good advice. First grow here and I had zero idea what I was getting into. Now I just have to see it through. Not to sound weird, but I brought these plants into the world, I feel obligated to do my best with them. 12 plants is just way too much. It was fun in the beginning, but now not so much. I was just out there today inspecting them, pulling off dead or dying leaves, etc. I was really trying to find caterpillars but couldn't. This is highly time consuming. 2 plants tops next year!!!

Try white widow and mazar, both do good in gods country, Long Island. Pretty much the same as the Cape, except Red Sox and Patriot’s thing.

I actually went out there today and took the Leaf Blower to the plants (from a distance of course). I'm going to start airing them out every morning to get the dew or even rain off of them. I know some say not to do this, but it makes sense to me to at least try to keep them as dry as I can.

If water and humidity are where the fungus likes to live and that’s where it starts well then anything you can do to help prevent is good in my newbie opinion I blow dry mine every morning that’s how they start the day off and so far know on wood no bud rot and I got some fat colas

He can probably hit a driver to the water on the Cape. Lots of damp dewy days, ocean is relentless.

That sucks. I'm dealing with it daily at this point. Every single day I find some rot. It seems, fortunately, isolated to about 3 of 12 plants - 1 of the 3 being the worst. I'm about ready to just chop that whole plant at this point. That said, I do realize that by the time you see it, it's too late, so for all I know this project could be a total fail. Today, I cut off a cola the size of my forearm and most of it was screwed. I was able salvage the middle of the bud (about the size of a Coors Light can)

I was thinking of doing a couple of White Widow and or Northern Lights next season. Next year I'm going to rig up a make shift Greenhouse (PVC, Poly, etc). It will be more manageable with only two plants.

3 years ago I grew 2 Critical 2.0 plants. 1 was full of bud rot, the other, right next to it was clean.
I've also grown FAST versions of Banner and Gorilla Glue and both, all the plants got it bad.
But, chances are if I'd have grown them this year it would have been fine. You never know.

Fuck that, grow your own. You don’t have to show your license and the rest of that bs. Plus you grow it! You will get the hang of it. Once you get into the groove, nothing will bother you. Vegetable farmers have been dealing with the same stuff for years, it’s all doable. It’s outdoors, there’s outdoor pests, it’s easy!

Growing your own is not just about saving money. You'll KNOW what's in your smoke and that is priceless.
(full disclosure, I make edibles, so buying weed for that would be prohibitively expensive which, is a big reason for me.)

Vegetable farmers have been dealing with the same stuff for years, it’s all doable. It’s outdoors, there’s outdoor pests, it’s easy!

Yeah, good point. I hate going into the dispensary! The process cracks me up. ID on the way in; ID at the counter; the kid selling the weed has to look at it, tell you what it is, and staple the receipt to the bag; exit a different door. Meanwhile, I can walk into any liquor store and buy enough Whiskey kill an elephant, and even do a bit of gambling while I'm there, without any process. They treat Weed like it's anthrax!

Well, at least ours will be over and done with long before yours. Which is good 'cause I don't relish wet trimming and washing bud in a winter coat.
