Bud Rot is Killing Me!

So this shitty weather decided my harvest time-line for me. While most of the State is experiencing light rain, Mother Nature decided to take a giant shit on the Cape. High winds and rains. First pic is for context. Usually takes a bit for a Mooring to break and deposit a Sail Boat on the beach! Second, one of several victims! The good news: 4.5# of wet trimmed bud. If I figure 25% end product, not a bad haul per plant for a new grower! While it had a couple of weeks to go, I'm hoping it's still pretty good. I have another 6 hours or so of trimming ahead of me today!

That sucks, we got a sprinkle for 30 seconds and the wind is hard north here, howling.maybe had something to do with last nights Pats game?

I figure that would happen last night. I told a buddy of mine, "watch for the Jets blowout". Our offensive line sucks, we cant block, we can't tackle, we can't pressure, we can't hold on to the Ball. It's a dumpster fire. Robert Kraft sucks. He's letting the team go to shit. His financials are going to tell the story eventually. I'm sure I'm not the only fan that will not pay big $$ to go watch this product in action.

Started trimming up my Sativa, which were probably a week from chop. The bud rot is going to get real bad with this weather. While I've been cutting out a good amount of rot, I am being left with a good amount of clean (hopefully) weed. I'm wet trimming as a means to 1) accommodate
Maui Cola
my drying situation better; and, 2) closely inspect for Rot. Check out this bud:

Very nice. Did you have to peal your fingers off the bottle? LOL

Out of 12 plants, I've chopped two and gave a buddy all the sugar trimmings and small buds. I basically just kept the choice buds and gave him the rest. I have two more plants that got destroyed by the wind and those are hanging in my shed. I am giving those to another guy. My nephews are coming by for a couple of plants. In the end I am going to keep 4, so I have two more to harvest and wet trim tomorrow. I expect about 10 pounds of wet trimmed bud (a few smaller stems here and there). Hopefully I'll finish up with a couple of pounds of cured bud in the end. I was surprised that people are all excited about getting a freshly chopped plant! They can't wait to come raid this Christmas Tree Lot!

After buying and smokin weed since the late 70’s, I’m sure I’ve smoked mold and every other god forsaken crap. I used to buy pounds, orange peels, lizard and snake skins and 20% seeds, those were the days!
Nah it will but you in the ER, it's very obvious on the weed. Powdery mildew maybe but not botrytis be careful

So, I've been tossing the sugar leaves (wet trim). If I save them, do I need to dry them right away (sugar leaves) or could I just refrigerate them until I'm ready to deal with them? Would be good to hear what others do. Or, is it just a waste of time?

Ageee, the NE struggling sucks, in VT here. Lost whole plants too many times to the rot. Have you ever tried hosing off your plants throughout the season. I find if you are exposed during the night, the worst pests are out, caterpillars and the like. You have to wash off their remnants from the leaves, stems, buds, it’s how rot can start. ✊🏼Hope the flower is good!!

If you have 10lbs of bud you may not need to keep the trimmings. Anything you can do with scraps you can do better with bud.
I ususally keep the trim scrap in a paper bag for awhile, thinking i may want it for something - but i never do.

It does work well for baking - if you can find somebody who needs it, but we usually end up composting it.

Also - remember you only need enough weed to get you to the end of next season. Next year will likely be better, having learned some lessons. I find myself giving away my older jars as I harvest better stuff each season.

Just talking about the old days, careful is my middle name. I take that back, careful ain’t my middle name, but I don’t smoke crappy weed.
🀣 I am sure I've smoked some awful shit in my day just don't want a newb to burn a nug covered in rot you know. No worries man πŸ‘Š

All good, no newb for sure. Been there done that, joy of being old.
Oh yea I know you aren't, we just get a lot of newbies coming through the forums so I like to be careful. Your outdoor looks awesome BTW, Definitely deserved the POTM nomination πŸ‘Š
