New WiFi Microscope…give me your thoughts on chopping!

Hey y’all,

So.

How ripe is good enough?

I’m experimenting with harvest windows, and just wanted to post a few photos to get your opinions on ripeness…

AND…

These flippin cheap AF Wi-Fi microscopes from Amazon!!
Holy moly are they easy to use and beyond worth the $25!!

Hell yeah! I got one too, fuck a loupe lol.

This is a few days before I cut mine, I’d wait for more amber personally.

Microscopes are great, much better than loupes in my opinion.

Make sure you try to focus on the buds instead of the sugar leaves. Trichomes on the leaves turn amber much quicker than the buds themselves. It can be tough depending on the bud structure. I always turn my fans off to stop the sway of the branches.

James, you may be close to ready, but I'd wait for more opinions.

^valid, I checked leaf trichomes first and got really excited, they were about a week ahead of the buds

I have found the lights used in these and the loupes are usually LED. I think it can somewhat skew the images we are seeing. Saying this to let you know to keep your lighting in mind when using these things. My trichomes look much different under sunlight than the LED lights from my loupe.

Try looking at the same trichomes at different angles/different amount of light. Sometimes reflections can make clear trichomes look cloudy, a nearby pistil can even reflect and make them look amber.

I don't see what I would think is reflection in your pics but I just wanted to mention that it can happen.

Still gonna wait another week because it’s still early as far as timeline goes.
I’m just into week 7, and it’s a 8ish week strain going by the parents flowering times.
Also…another guy on here said that trichomes can cloud, and stay cloudy for a while…so here’s to hoping that’s the case lol.

If I have about 2% clear, and the rest cloudy, I harvest. The last of the clear, and the start of the amber seem to overlap. So waiting for the last of the clear ones to go cloudy, will be traded for the first of the amber coming in. So I'm just guessing there'd be a plateau of potency at about 98ish%, if you're going for max head high that is. I'm always trying to avoid couch lock, or as I call it, "nap time".

Really liking that microscope though, defo gonna look into one of those. I'm sick of having to scotch tape the loupe to my phone lol.

I really try to get way in there sometime squeezing little too much on buds but got behind a white pistil pretty cool makes me second guess everything

On my microscope there’s a dial to reduce the light and it makes a big difference.

Was shocked at what the trichs look like under the LED vs sun. What type of scope do you have? I like the sound of being able to adjust the light. My eyes are awful.

Personally it could a bit longer trichs aren't amber yet. You wanna see at least 10% of amber trichs.

Elikliv or something like that it was a cheap $30 or something like that on eBay. Mikedin mentioned that the trichs appear clear because of the light and sure enough dimming or turning it off the cloudiness and ambers appeared on what looked like never ending clear.
