So I’m redoing my grow area major upgrade! My water heater broke so my tent got messed up in the process! Sooo I’m doing my walk in closet as a grow room! Well here the question I was thinking about using the phil lights! But I changed my mind to the kind x420 dose anyone use these lights!!!’

brand that was making crappy blurp lights no so long ago and recently switched to full spectrum panel, i have heard their x series lights are not fully dimmable but with 25% steps, and i don't believe pseudo extra features kind leds have regarding the spectrum make a signifiant difference when you look at the harvest compared to some other brand that are well established on the full spectrum led market since longer.

matter with newish brand you'll never know how long and if they gonna last ...

Well what do you suggest

spiderfarmer, hlg, ac infinity, vivosun, phlizon, lumatek, viparspectra, mars hydro

check their officials web site and compare, most of them have continentals warehouses, and officials websites ( .com, .uk, .eu, .au ,etc.)

Each brand will have their tweak regarding the spectrum, led layout, app, fan, orientability and whatever but truth is when it come to comparing the end results with panel equivalent in power amongst thoose brands you won't see much difference with the final results.

(i would avoid mars hydro TS series it's not uncommon some people had some issues with them, also i think most viparspectra new models are not fully dimmable but with step)

(i m with spiderfarmer, i like the simplicity of their fixtures and they had the best panel dimension for my 2x3 tents)

also i d be very doubtfull about kind claim that their spectrum is so much better than the other brands, they don't even provide any info on the led brand and model they use in their fixtures ...

I use ViparSpectra lights. So far, no complaints.

What size is your new growing space? Figure out the square footage and multiply by 30 to estimate the wattage you'll need.
It’s about a 4x4 space I was looking at this brand! So it’s about the square footage not the watts?

I really like my Viparspectra never had issues with the brand. They were my first lights i ever used LED. Had the old style and then bought the P2500 which i don't think they make anymore. But it's got a dimmer which is very useful.

I have a kind 420. It fits a 2X4. Works great. Turning the red dial up managed to burn my plants but the farm taught me to not follow manufacturers instructions and to read the plants.

I’m thinking about the spider farmer 2024 G5000 what do you think
it's about panel dimension related to tent dimension to have an even light coverage and dispersion near tent border and then it's about how many watt.

For a tent size you usually find a range of 2-3 models per brand that will fit and scale in term of size and power.
Models with larger dimension and more Watt usually offer a more even light coverage and dispersion near tent borders but you may not use them 100% close to the plants.

so yeah g5000 or g8600 would do the job in a 4x4 (or se5000, se7000 and sf4000)

I've had good luck with ViparSpectra. They're well-built and reliable.

I gave you a method for calculating how much wattage for the amount of floor space. Like this:

4 x 4 = 16 square feet
16 x 30 = 480 watts

So, a 480-watt light would be a good size for your tent.

The ViparSpectra KS5000 is a 500-watt light, but it's expensive at $470 on Amazon. When I was running a 4x4 tent, I had two P2000 lights at 240 watts each for a total of 480 watts. They're $150 each on Amazon. So, they're not as costly, plus the can be set at different light levels if the need arises, or just one can be used. So, they're a bit more flexible. They can also be daisy chained.

So I do have a 1000w vivosun full spectrum light do you think add both together would be a over kill or do I just need to use the 4x4 light! It’s still a major work in progress

@Rebeccalovato777

Just went through this myself 😉

BTW > that Kind X420 light looks Really Expensive, Osram & Philips diodes, only a 2' x 4' coverage But Twice the lifespan (100,000 hrs) of any of the other lights I looked at 😵

I'm coming from a 600w MH/HPS HID light in a 42" parabolic reflector used in a 5'w x 5'w x 4 foot high light weight reflective enclosure inside a 10' x 10' x 8' high room.

My ballast died and I decided now was the time to try LED's !

My criteria was Budget and light spread.

Basically I used the manufacturers par maps to compare brands. When possible I used the test maps provided by a second party tester who has no vested interest in sales > https://www.cocoforcannabis.com/ !

The best cost/light spread was the ViparSpectra KS5000 500w. No longer available on the Canadian site and the last one on Amazon sold before I had the cash. The US store does not ship to Canada !

Then looked at the slightly less attractive Mars Hydro FC-E4800 480w, sold out...

After three months of No Growing I decided to go with the Phlizon FD6000 640w light with Samsung chips !

On sale for $389 Cdn ! No tax, no shipping fee !

I Could Not Be More Pleased !

The infinite power control knob means no more stretching, short bushy plants at least a week ahead of what I'm used to seeing with HID. Slightly less heat and Much Better light spread compared to a single HID bulb.

This is my Girls @Day 33..

Day 33 The Girls 20 Oct

Good luck with your decision, eh ?

Cheers
