Hello all,
I am currently starting a DWC grow. I am using the paper towel method for the first stage of seed germination.

I have a question on what to do after the root has sprouted a bit. Is there any intermediate stage before planting in my bucket?

Also, when should I start feeding nutrients?

How will you plant in bucket?
Rockwool cubes or those little balls
I personally plant them in rockwool and then the bucket holds it wet until the seed sprouts

I will plant in rockwool and use some hydroton for support.

Before i place in DWC bucket do i need to keep it in the rockwool in a propagator or something? For the roots to grow a little longer?

Not really as long as the water sprays from dwc make the rockwool wet you are good. You could top feed for a week it should give better results

I cant be around very often. I usually leave a n the morning and come back at night. Can i still top feed then? With all those hours being away?

Also do i need to start adding nutrients at this stage?

I put mine in coco coir in a 3 in net pot and then put it in my 6 in net pot with clay pebbles put on bucket fill with water until the bottom pebbles are wet put in 3 in back fill with pebbles for support no nutrients until the first little leaves turn about 2 weeks

Get the water level close to the netpot and airstone under the bubles will keep you wet.no need to topfeed.topfeed is extra.first week you would get maybe 20% more

I did mine the same as you are planning to grow by sprouting the beans, then placing them in rockwool. Then I put mine in a little incubator greenhouse gizmo for a couple days to let the roots grow just a bit. After a couple days of growth I put the rockwool into the clay pebbles with just the top of the plant growth sticking out into the tent, and under the lights. I also had my water all the way up the bucket so the roots were completely submerged in water, and supplied air to the plant via air pump to bubbler under water. Now 122 days later,

What about nutrients? When should i start giving nutrients?

Sorry about the slow reply. You should start about 50% nutrients at about the time of the second set of true leaves. Probably now.

I'm trying to germinate 3 seeds as well but not having confidence is killing me... I soaked them for 20 hours no sprout... it's kinda cold where l'm at at the moment but I heard they can get mushy from been soaked to long... so i planted them in soil not to deep n didn't pack the soil and put a diy humidity dome to help and wet the soil and the dome... I have one still soaking and to in they own pots... will they still grow?? I'm super new to this and need some advice... they are autos as well... help help lol
