This pheno came from some really old Skunk 1 seeds. This is almost identical to the skunk plants I saw growing around here in the 80s/90s. Stem & leaf rubs are a heavy skunk spray already. I know everybody says that you won't find skunk in any skunk 1 seeds, but this plant has the look and smell right now. Only time will tell. They have the extra leaflet which is a good sign.

Have a round of these flowering in the r&d room right now 🤟

Keep up the good work Bro, don't worry about what anyone says and keep the skunk projects rockin !

Right on thank you, glad to get everybody hyped up! I went overboard on the skunks but its been such a fun and awesome adventure. I picked up a few more packs of seeds, so I'll be hunting skunks for the next few years.

I have a couple phenos of the 79 FL skunk seeds flowering, alongside this pheno of Skunk 1. Also have more "Roadkill" Skunk and ECSD flowering. It's Skunk city 'round here 🤟

Thanks brother! I know a lot of the newer skunk 1 seeds are all fruity skunks and the stank was bred out, but will see if there's any truth to the old skunk 1 being the roadkill. I got these seeds from an old head who says it's the skunk and so far my contacts have been pretty damn reliable, but will have to find out for myself.

I'm hot on the trail for the indica dominant skunk that I saw growing around here back in the day. I've talked to some people who remember the same plant that I do. Short, squat, wide leaves, early finishing RKS that smelled exactly like skunk spray. No death or decay, just unmistakable skunk.

This is one pheno of the Skunk 1 flowering in aeroponics (multiple plants) and it's looking almost identical to what I remember. Smells like a skunky/burnt rubber so far...

That’s what we grew up with in BC , Canada. Everything smelled like that …. Plus there was lots of skunks around Vancouver so we all knew the smell and who didn’t have a charcoal filter 😵‍💫

Right on that's awesome! The BC skunks seem to match up to the skunk I remember. Lots of BC bud made its way here in the 90s, plus we were close to the border. Most of what was around for us for a while was BC/Canadian bud. Then we started growing, but we would get most of our genetics right over the border. Canada was much more friendly and lax with the culture. Spent a lot of time there as a teenager and in my 20s.

Got a whole bunch of skunks in aeroponics 🤟 8 different strains this round. 4 skunks, Sour Diesel, and a few others.

Have a bunch of the "Roadkill" Skunk in there (back left.) Haven't seen it's true structure yet since the clone I got was already topped, and I topped my mother plant pretty early on. Thing is a beast! Tallest plant out of my 20 strains. I've had to raise the lights multiple times already. Grows lanky like an old school sativa but I'd imagine it still produces pretty well. Will be lollipopping them to maximize yield, but this round is mainly to hunt & compare coco vs aero. (Aero usually wins in the smell, taste & trichrome production.)

Skunk 1 (RKS)

Plants still looking on point and very close to the skunk of old. Fan leaves the size of 5 gal bucket lids. Smells like skunk with a crazy grease/metal/rubber cement/ burnt rubber type smell. Looking forward to seeing how these turn out!

Can't say for sure until it's done and smoked but so far this one smells like straight up skunk spray! This is what everybody would consider the true RKS vs the dead "roadkill" skunk/abomination type smell & taste.

Have a few of these flowering. This mother plant absolutely reeks like skunk spray. Its a really loud smelling plant in veg and just touching it you smell nothing but skunk 🦨

The second class of skunks is off to the races!

Hell yeah brother can’t wait to see how this run comes out! 🤘

I’m in my mid 70’s and grow indoors. Another seventy something outdoor grower I know is sending some skunk my way. Outdoor grown by the edge of the swamp and dried in an old barn now used for storage. I’m not sure what it is or where it came from but if it’s as good and old school as I heard I might be onto something. Some of these old guys my age aren’t even online and have these hidden gems stashed away. Fingers crossed.

Awesome 🤟 Appreciate all you older guys that paved the way for us. I've been talking to the older growers about skunk and thats where I found it. If anybody has it stashed away somewhere, it's you guys. Keep us posted!

So what originally brought me down the skunk rabbit hole this year, started with the Sour Diesel rabbit hole. All these Sour cuts going around, but many people say they haven't seen the real one since the early mid 2000s. Very similar to skunk.

We've had the sour cut in the fam since the early 2000s and I grew it until '13. It was just called Sour Diesel at that time.

Finally picked it up again and this is the first time flowering it. The smell and looks are identical. It's that heavy sour skunky fuel smell. I remember it well. It’s in aeroponics and that tends to bring out the full expressions of plants. We'll see how it goes!

Sour Diesel / ECSD early flowering

LED + Full spectrum UV 1000ppfd
mountain spring water
sterile res / salt based fertilizers
1200 ppm of CO2

I've always felt sour d is a Skunk pheno.

Wish I had the time & space for a breeding project but I'm full up. 20 strains and counting 🤦🏻‍♂️ Living vicariously through you and your project! How's it coming along?
Funny you ask. Got the 2 Santa martas hanging with mazaris, and (balkhi x Santa marta). All in veg. One of the mazaris began showing hairs? Weird. I have highland thai boy dropping dust on pine tar in another tent. So I took the mazari and gave her the highland thai. So now have another facet to the project. Lol was told that the skunk became Roadkill after the addition of thai. Rumors, but still fun to find out what happens. Love the mystery

I've always felt sour d is a Skunk pheno.

I don't remember skunk in Sour Diesel at all. Sour Diesel is a Chem and there's zero skunk in Chem.

People throw words around. They have no meaning. Love the word "skunky". Sounds real confident. Skunk-ish? Lol so it smells like cabbage and sulfur burner? That's what people think I want to smoke?

I have learned to completely ignore people who add "y" and "ish" to terms. It either smells like skunk or it doesn't there's no pretending. Unless you're a pothead on the internet ,then you just make it up.
