Hey guys so recently I purchased a 4x4 x 80 inch tent and paired it with a spider farmer 4x4 g5000 480 watt full Spectrum led light.
New to indoor could use a lil advice

Grow room reads around 80 when I have the light on. I hung it 16 inches above a few seedlings and set it at 20% then after what I feel I slow growth so I bumped up to 30% intensity a few days after. Humidity reads around 35 to 40% which i believe is too low but I’m not quite sure An also the light is
running 18hrs on 6 off with sunrise and set simulated 30 mins duration. I’m using a 4 in duct fan as exhaust with a carbon filter and 4 inch smaller intake fan. I’m using ff light warrior starting off and I ph the water before watering. Seedlings are in lil solo cups the soil doesn’t seem to be too wet, the cups feel fairly light weight so I don’t think I saturated the grow medium to much. Least I hope I’m not.

So with all that said I really want to know if I’ve got this light any where close to where it should be and where the lights intensity % should be and possibly a rough idea on where I should be running this set up for veg an flower as well because I’m not too strong on the subject of math so attempting to figure hang height and power has been a challenge for me.
Any and all information and advice are very much welcome because my last post only received one reply which didn’t really explain much of nothing. So thank u in advance for your help. Happy new years everyone.

Sounds like you’re in the ballpark
About 18 inches to 24 is usually preferable
How old are they
Gotta pic
Asking so I can help you with the intensity.
Slow growth, will usually be down to overwatering

I don’t know what you mean by

If your running 18/6 your creating the daylight & the night time you don’t need to follow sunrise if that’s what you mean just stick it on a 18/6 timer & forget about it till you flip.

I’ve run many a grow where darkness is during the day in summer because of heat on the old hps lights.

The humidity isn’t ideal however it’s nothing really other then your not hitting optimum humidity

I’ve run grows with 30/40% humidity it’s not as big a issue as some might think ok if you have room for a humidifier and have the cash go for it otherwise forget about it

There’s various old tricks like hanging wet cloths & letting them drip into buckets witch raise the humidity however don’t last long till you need to re wet the cloths after years of doing this that & the other chasing it I gave up & left it alone

Look at my tent & you’ll see they can do fine under a low humidity

Instead of guessing, I’d recommend downloading the Photone app, use that to dial in the proper ppfd… follow their directions on making a paper diffuser.

, he really knows his shite. i too don't worry

about RH except during flowering, i try to keep it between 35 & 45%, any higher

and you have to start worrying about mold & bud rot.

as far as lighting goes, all seedlings actually need is some florescent lights hung

directly over top of them, you don't need the higher intensity until they try

to stretch on you. however, if they are handling it ok, keep doing what you're

doing though. (personally, i'm of the belief that if they can hatch and grow

directly in the florida sun, they can be hardened off & bumped up to higher

intensity light rather quickly, but don't do what i do).

that being said, you don't need any math, just start @ 24" and 20%. if they

start drooping & trying to "cover up" it's too intense, if they are "praying"

with their leaves @ a 30 degree upward angle, they want more,

if you come with more direct questions and your entire setup, it'll be much

easier for the good people here to help you.

happy growing and happy new year

-peace- 🤟 👍😎

I def have the humidifier and dehumidifier I can hook up if necessary I picked up an ink bird controller so I could control stuff during my outdoor harvest so I can work with that to change the humidity as far as the seedlings I purchased them off-line and they’ve popped. They’re just staying smaller than what I’m use to seeing with a 400 w MH I used in the basement to start spring plants. And the sunrise sunset simulation is something Spider Farmer offers on their app to control the light. It starts at 11% and gradually works up to 30 or wherever you have it set up until it reaches it and then dims out to dark like a sunset.

I actually downloaded that app a few days ago before I made this post. I guess that’s maybe how I got it in the ballpark it says the middle of the rights running 400 something PPHD around the outside is 250 into the 300s with about 24 inches in height from the top of the little plants and I ordered a diffuser online, which should be here in a couple days. Thank you so much for the information

Happy New Year’s to you as well. I’m all the way up in Indiana so definitely the outside sun strength is pretty different but it still gets pretty hot up here in summer. I’ll definitely try better to get the specs on everything. I’m doing and using next time I need some help. Thank you for the advice. I think I need to stop second-guessing myself so much and just use everything I’ve learned from outside and bring it to inside. You all have been very helpful.

FYI a clip fan pointing into a bucket of water in your tent, is a very effective humidifier. ;)
