My Southern California outdoor winter grow has been BRUTAL for the past week. Day 25 into flip today. Last week a giant rat went into the overnight greenhouse and saved me the hassle of clearing some of the lowers. I hope he at least died high AF when that trap snapped his neck. Then this week... those winds and the fires. It got up to 70mph the other night before I made the call to bring them inside and fight later with the wife about the smell. I thought we were done with this wind today. And then about 15 minutes after I snapped the pics below, well the single digit humidity sucked the water out of the dirt before she was due for a watering and a gust came and blew her over. Next up: I can hardly wait to fight the spider mites and bud worms! I keep saying I'm gonna build a screen house and with all the other crap Mother Nature is throwing at me, I have no desire to go all Don Quixote on the moths. If I sound like I'm complaining, you're hearing me wrong. I kiss the ground beneath me that I still have a house standing through this mess because we know folks who are just finding out today they lost everything.

2019 California fires killed my citrus plant and I am in another state. Good call.

@All
I know..it is a hardly discussed topic but by know planning to buy the new SE5000 soon, thought about to add a Supplemental light as well: https://www.spider-farmer.com/produ...plemental-led-grow-light-bars-set-for-plants/

What are your experience with the supplemental lights from spider farmer or other brands with the same nm's, weather the UV, IR or Far Red, I know some of you are using them and or did a side by side test too?

Migro said that UV 365nm has no measurable response, but maybe you experienced better trichome appearence, color sth.?

Adding the 730nm IR makes sense for me because the light just provide 630nm. Deep Red is already in the light so not that necessarily, imo.

As Spider farmer also mentioned it before they reveal their "benefits"...
To quote SF:
In some main light sources, a few 365nm UV diodes and 730nm IR diodes may just be a marketing gimmick, and in reality, their intensity may be insufficient.

Could it be that those lights get absorbed by the stronger SE5000 and therefore leading to not be that efficient?

Please share everything y know about!
Have a good day everybody, weekend is close!

Supplemenral lighting itself as in under canopy lighting I may be trying this time I have 4’ barrina grow bars I may light up my under canopy with or side lighting wrapped around the tent we’ll see, then I have the 2021 version of the mars hydro FC-E8000 (840w) on the left side of the tent, and I bought the supplemtal UV/IR bars that go with it but I split the 2 bars one on each side of the 4x8, other light is a @PhlizonGrowLight FD6500 (640w) on the right side of the tent both great lights, UV bars I’ve only really tried the first year I had em they’ve just been up there since then, this run I plan to run them in 15 or 30 minute increments once at lights on, 15 mins preferred, once at mid day (plant time noon, 30mins on) then hour before lights out another 15 minutes, may tweak or but we’ll see

IR
Then
UV
Then
Both

But they also get paid less then either.

I’ve never personally met a game warden that abuses their power. I know they can and do, but it’s as rare here as it is for a Leo to *not* abuse their power.

Here in tn most the wardens seem to be doing the job because they care about this area and the wildlife, but most the cops here seem like they have the job because their life doesn’t tickle their ego and sense of self worth the right way for their psychopathic mind.

When I see Twra wardens they are usually doing their job as the job requirements demand. Rarely are they power tripping or enforcing things just because they can.

I’m not defending the unconstitutional power of a game warden at all, but I am absolutely acknowledging that I’ve personally never had a run in with one who abused that power. (I know it happens, humans are humans, but if you think game wardens attract the same narcissistic power trippers the Leo academy does… in most cases you’re very wrong.

If I didn’t have epilepsy and could drive I’d have been very interested myself in being a Tera game warden tbh. I think I would love that job and be good at it both honestly. Police officer tho? Strong hell no to that one.

Anyways, my point is that the game wardens tend (not always, but usually) to attract a completely different kind of person then a police academy does. The reason it would interest me, is rooted in how much I care for this land. It’s wildlife, and most the people that live within it.

Similar applies to the parks rangers in my experience. Those *tend to be people who actually care about what they are doing.
point taken, i just had bad experiences growing up. we had one of the power tripping assholes in our district who was hell bent on getting my big brother and then by proxy me.

my brother wasn't only a prolific hunter, trapper, fisherman and total hillbilly woodsman; he also happened to grow a lot of skunk. i on the other just dabbled in the growing bc of that asshole. i just didn't have in me to hike far enuff into the woods to be off his radar. it wasn't enough to have him in our district, he had a brother who was a fookn game warden in the next district over who was just as bad! they lived to fuck with people in the woods.

you are right tho that they do seem to draw in a different type than regular Leo's, who now days seem to attract mostly roid raging assholes. the wardens and forest rangers do tend to care about the land and the critters therein.

Whew took all day but 4x8 is ready completely, just need to put soil in bags and mess with any under lighting and gotta grab some treys for the bags but all easy stuff now Home Depot, tractor supply etc.

Got almost all the old 1, 5 and 12 gallon bags washed and stored, seedling treys and microgreen treys stored kept out some one gallon pots for the clones to go to establish a good root ball to before they go into the 30’s I’ll use light recipe for the clones once they root. Now we just wait for the other kahuna #2 to finish then everything runs together in sync

That pic of dry sift is from my Apple fritter trim it’s been sitting in the trey for a month inside a Rubbermaid, found it when I was gettinready for the kahuna chop and I needed the tin bin… it was still full🤣

10 gram dry soft bonus! 🤣💚💚

Yes it will

I snapped a pic of a fresh spray just to show the leveling coming along nicely.

I did this the broke lazy way. I didn’t grain fill the wood before the first coats so I’m just leveling between the satin clear sprays. I’ve cut several corners to meet a strict budget with it

More satisfying progress. It’ll prob be good for the final coat after this next level sand. The final coat will spray thick enough to keep that orange peel texture away. Will have the body mounted to a 2x2 so I can keep it rotating for a min or two to avoid and runs
Let it dry a few days and color sand it. Start with 600 grit work your way up to 2000, will be glass.

Kahuna 2 left

Kahuna 3 middle

Frostette reveg right

Lmao here the only run-ins ive had with game wardens were because i was doing something wrong. Definitely cant speak for anywhere else. TN doesnt use the DNR though either, they run their own thing called the TWRA (tennessee wildlife resource administration)

Eastern TN is a different place then most though. Even down toward knoxville id challenge someone to find so much as a ciggarette butt on the sidewalk that isnt outside a bar or a mission. Def not speaking for middle and western TN though either.

When you have a run in with a hunter like i did you usually dont expect anything but friendliness and respect here. Thats usually reserved for interacting with the meth heads.

But yea at least where im at, and if its a TWRA warden, you generally have to be doing something wrong to have a run in.

If you grew up in florida, dont forget those wardens are federal employees who have run-ins with Florida-Man on the reg lmao.
