Lollipop?

I want to try to lollipop my plants this time. I’ve heard that I should wait until day 20-21 of flowering to trim the bottom That seems too like it might make them hermaphrodite. Any help and/or suggestions would be

Ideal to do the bulk of the lollipop in veg, but it can be done after stretch is complete. Depending on genetics, most won’t herm when removing lower weak branching and leaves. But best done in Veg either way, Healthy vigorous plants won’t skip a beat.

The reason you don’t exfoliate or lollipop until two weeks into flower it to do with stretch period. Doing it after two weeks into flowering isn’t something I do however that’s the rule of thumb if you’re going to do it then wait till after the stretch

only do 10% at a time to minimise stress

Ideally you should of lollipoped before they went into flower as a prep for flowering

I don’t do it myself as am disabled & not keen of doing it. It’s no biggie if you leave it till next time as long as there’s air flowing

The small larf buds I just add to the trim I use to make bubble hash

Have you tried skipping veg and going right to flower?
Saves time and you still get a nice stretch.
My thought is, why bother veg if you are going to prune it off.

Thanks to all of you for the great feedback and quick response. I have not tried going straight to 12-12 although I have heard that it can be rewarding. And the photos seem to support that! I did some preliminary trimming down low as I’m getting ready to flip them in a week or two. I may cut a little more right before I flip and maybe again after the stretch. Anyway thanks again I really appreciate all of your help and I will keep you posted!

Your flower looks good, but why suggest skipping veg when clearly, your plants took some heavy veg bondage?

lol - he skipped Veg, but it took 8 weeks to get that manifold.. good symmetrical manifold none the less!

In my case, today day 21 of flower i had to defol/lollipop, because I tried to leave as moch foliage in veg, just as a tryout and unfortunately had to take so much off that I hope they won't start to herm now, also some of them shall be finicky.
Stick to the post of @Gmix and do it in veg.

Hey, they look great man! I saw you mentioning this in another post and forgot to ask you, how many nodes do you aim for before the flip? Its my understanding that they will keep growing nodes even if theyre under 12/12 until they have enough but never tested it. Did you top them or the branches naturally caught with the upper canopy as a result of having less nodes to start with?

Hey, My primary focus was achieving complete symmetry in height and growth. I'm aiming for balance and uniformity, not sheer volume.

This was Nov 1st and I switch to flower Nov 27th.
It probably did take about 6-8 weeks from seed before I flipped to flower.

The second image in the first reply shows how the plant looked when I initiated flowering Nov 27th.
I transplanted her into a 10-gallon pot a few weeks prior, which turned out to be a great decision since I needed more soil to secure the staples.
During the stretch, I continued training her, aiming to keep the main colas level with the new growth.

I watched a video featuring two experienced professionals talking about the advantages of skipping the vegetative stage when growing a large number of plants. I decided to give it a try with this grow to see how it would turn out. This grow was more of an experiment driven by curiosity than a carefully planned cultivation.

I got a new 5x5 tent, and I don’t plan on replicating this with multiple plants since it requires quite a bit of time.

I'm new to this site and forum posting, so I hope I'm not 'hijacking' the thread.

Haha, you're not wrong. I was trying to show the plant's growth at the time of flipping, not the fluxing.

I suppose it felt like the veg was shorter than it was since I flipped earlier than I planned. We can imagine that's what 12 3 week veg mainlines might look like lol.
