Watering/feeding question? In coco

I’ve tried to research this and I can’t figure out so would like some input of people really doing it. Do you water your coco every day ? Do you feed every time you water?

I slowed down my watering because of fungus gnats now my ppm of my run off is super high so I imagine salts are building up because of the dryback. So I think I’m going to start doing like a feed feed water cycle for a little bit and seeing how that goes.and not really caring about the gnats lol I got some of this sticky paper going to try those.

Coco should be watered/fed daily. No dryback. If your PPM's get too high in the runoff then a fresh water flush to clear the salts, followed immediately by a feeding.

Coco is hydrophobic so it doesn’t retain moisture

As u feed you plants will grab what they can uptake as the feed passes there roots

If ppm run off is to high do a flush then feed with a half dose feed

Coco is basically the entry level to hydro u can’t really over water

Try not to let it dry out basically

If the plants are pretty big in 5g pots id say about 2L feed daily or every second day

Every plant is different just keep notes of what you fed at what ppm, humidity,temps nd keep an eye for how the plant reacts

Some plants might like high ppm some might like mid 800s max

I will say less is more
Nd try not to worry about them to much most people kill them with love

quick question , do people use any sort of sugars like bud honey in coco, ? or is that just for living soil.

I used carbohydrates such as molasses/honey before never had anything go wrong, depending on your nutes some additives have carbs nd suggrs ready to go in plant form

I use advanced nutrients
Their bud candy nd carbaload are good additives

You should feed using the hydro schedule every time you water. Water to runoff. If you have to flush them because of salt buildup then use plain water, followed immediately by nutes.

The plants do not absorb the sugars. The sugars feed the microorganisms in the soil, which accelerates the breakdown of organic nutrients into forms usable by the plant. It’s much less effective in coco, since it’s a synthetic grow and coco is basically inert and resistant to breakdown. Won’t hurt anything.

I use grow big and calmag in veg. 3ml calmag. 5ml grow big per gallon. In the seedling to teen stage I water them as they dry. Like soil. Once the roots are formed I water every day. If I’m using 3 gallon fabric pots I set up a res and auto water 4 times a day. 5 gallon pots I water once a day. With the 5 gallon pots I use 2 gallons of water so I get good runoff. It’s the runoff that stops the build up. If you flush you should do it with your normal nutrients. Plain water is not good for coco. It’ll mess up your cation exchange and throw things off. I switched from bud candy to raw because raw has sulfur in it. Sulfur will help with the final quality. Everyone does it different but I know the way I do it works good for me….. basically no plain water and once the roots are formed you don’t want it to dry. Coco is great for oxygen. Soil has to dry back to get oxygen. Coco has it while it’s wet. Keep your water at the right temps for the most amount of oxygen. I run 1-1.2 ec the whole way and the last 2 weeks I cut out calmag and run .6 ec.

Coco is hydrophobic, it sheds water, the roots get plenty of O2 moments after watering. @NarinM16 pretty much nailed it. Water runoff like @lllbill said.

That’s 100% true. I set my own rules for myself and share them. Everyone does it different. I spent 2 years just experimenting with things that people said to never do to figure out what you just said lol.
