Please help this first time grower with his first time trouble

Yes early feeding, and/or stronger dosages will cause leaf curl in early veggers, I have repeated this many times over the years - lol, I will sometimes pick 1 plant to test feed higher dosages, just to see how hard I can push early Veg, curled leaf is just one of the results...
"Variegated leaf" - is just varying levels of chlorophyll pigment in the leaf, Its built-in to many Plant species, I have also seen this many times, Ive had whole leaves split down the middle of each blade, half white half green, very cool looking - its usually early/mid Veg on 1 (or 2) leaves, then disappears...its fairly common, its pretty cool to see in the garden.. keep at it!

I am using new lights for my current grow and had some light burn/stress. I came across the PPFD Meter app from watching the Migro YT channel. It is a valuable tool for measuring light intensity and DLI. While the PPFD Meter readings may be off a little once you have a baseline measurement you can get a good idea of what effect changing your lights position or intensity has on your area. Quick update, I was out of the house and when I returned yesterday I was happily greeted by this beautiful girl

She seems to be responding well to the change in light intensity now and/ or recovering from over feeding. When I left she seemed a bit droopy and ofc, I worried for her while I was gone, like a good beginning plant micro-manager but she was as happy as I when returned I guess

She is not thirsty yet tho, 5 days and the soil was still moist. Today it feels like watering is near. So I'll give her the extra day and do it tomorrow. I've been hovering over her, lifting her pot, dipping my finger and googling for anything and everything to help me figure out how much to water and when. I would guess the 1 liter I gave her 5 days ago seems to have been just a little bit much in this stage. But contrary to this I've also read some have to water plants in veg around once a week. However, if watering so little, how do you stick to a feeding schedule at the same time? Do you feed every time to feed enough nutritients or alternate between feeding and just watering..

Either way, lots of fun stuff to digg into and play around with

First off congratulations on your first grow. Just want to say that I am no expert, I am on my fifth grow. Like you are doing now I have done the google searches and gone down many a rabbit hole. I am getting to the point where I just am enjoying learning new things instead of trying to solve problems.

Back to some questions you asked about how much to water and when. Some more information about your grow would be helpful for others to help you. You said you used light mix soil, what brand? How large is your pot(s)? I googled your grow space the Minigrow One. How tall is that, or what are the overall dimensions? What is your light schedule? Have you calculated your DLI?

I see you are growing an auto, which is what I have done on all of my grows. I'm just making an assumption but that grow box looks small. Even with an auto you may run out of room, just saying. Another assumption, looks like a 1 gallon pot. Correct me if I am wrong. I found this video from Build A Soil about watering living soil. Jeremy from BAS has tons of educational videos on YT. He recommends watering at 5-10% of your soil volume. So 5% of a 4 liter pot would be about 200 ml. I use ounces and gallons so forgive me if my conversion is off. I'm sure you can do the math yourself to get the correct percentage. I water mine about 7% on average and get a small amount of runoff. It's not just about the percentage though. Runoff to me means I have watered thoroughly. Some times I water a bit more until I get a few drips from the bottom of the pot. If your soil mix is not aerated then more than likely you would need more water to get to runoff and your roots would be lacking some oxygen. If you are using a pre made soil mix you should be good on that front. What I keep reading is it's not about how much water but how often you water, meaning you can water a lot one time but don't do it as frequently. You want a bit of dry back or drying out but not to the point where the plant is stressed. You need to find the sweet spot for your sized pot. I would start at 5% soil volume equivalent and see if you get a little runoff and work up from there. Then wait til the pots are light and the top of the soil is dry and then water. It is easier to correct underwatering as opposed to overwatering.

As far as adding nutrients. If your soil had amendments in it to start with you shouldn't need to add anything. At some point you will especially if your pot is as small as it looks. What point that is I really can't say but you should be good for now with no nutes.

Sorry for the long post and take it with a grain of salt. I experienced some of the same issues and what I described is how I tackled them. You're going to find tons of different opinions on the right way to do things, the truth seems to be that different things work for different situations and strains. Find what works for you and brings you the most joy from growing.
