Hi.

I wanted to let this Hot Damn Autoflower grow on it's own without training but it's been about 7 weeks from seed and I'm worried I'll run out of room in my 2.5x2.5x5 tent. I have a few plants at different veg stages but none are big.

I also have another tent but dint want to use it unless I need it.

How would I go about training her at this point? The main stem is pretty thick and I'm not sure how to bend or otherwise manipulate the growth at this point.

Was thinking of netting but that don't seem to make sense.... maybe a single plant trellis like someone mentioned to me before... or should I just let her grow ? She should start flowing anytime now. But I haven't noticed any pre flower stretch. Just normal growth.

i know you can't see the entire inside of tent in photos but she like close to halfway from top.

Have vivosun 200 aero se. And 150watt vivaspectre

7 weeks an not flowering, then this is not an auto but a photoperiod .you'll need to switch to 12/12.. happen once in a while ...

I read a lot lately about this. I feel like it is possible it could be anther week or so..
I heard indoor sometimes they take longer?

Also if I swith to 12 12 and it is autoflo then I'll lose the extra light I would have otherwise kept on extra 6 hours

i have grown a few autos, they always flowered within 2-4 weeks past germination

you should read about recomended DLI for cannabis plant

What about dLI? I know about it. I have par meter. How is that relevant? Ty

you can compensate the fact they get less light with DLI and higher intensity for a shorter period for exemple ...

Ohhhhh

So go to 12 12 but raise par...

I've always wondered about this...

Firstly, wouldn't light stress or heat stress from light be an issue?

And does this mean that if a plant reaches is max dli after 9 hours, any extra time the light is on is a waste?

There is a relationship between PPFD and DLI which is given by:

DLI=PPFD x light hours per day x (3600/1000,000).

You can see from this formula that there is a trade-off between PPFD and number of light hours required to achieve a certain DLI value.

What about in nature? Doesn't plant get way more dli than needed? Is that wasted? Can't be.. can it?

  • It is important to know that the DLI outdoors varies depending on latitude, the time of year and the amount of cloud cover.
  • When the DLI is low it would be wise for growers to maximise the amount of natural light that can reach the crop.
Throughout the year, outdoor DLI ranges from 5 to 60 mol/m2/day, however, in the greenhouse, values seldom exceed 25 molĀ·/m2/day due to glazing material, structure shading, seasonality, cloud cover, day length, and other greenhouse obstructions. The DLI can then be supplemented with other forms of light such as Metal Halide (MH), High-Pressure Sodium (HPS) or Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs).

IDK if you have an auto or photoperiod but I've been growing photos and sometimes they stretch like crazy and get too close to the light. This picture is of a plant I super cropped 3 weeks into flower. I used my thumb and forefinger to press the stem and twist it back and forth. Lightly at first and then with more pressure I could feel the fibers give and and then I could bend the stem to the side. At that point it needed support to keep it horizontal. After a few days the top was growing up again and needed to be trained to keep it horizontal.
Whether this works or is recommended for autos I couldn't say but I wanted to present one option for you if things get tough.

I had to do that with an auto that reached the light and it didnt seem to affect it ,
