I can't wait to try it, and I can't believe how bushy this NL#10 is gettingI just love GDP strain. Plants are looking groovy![]()

You've got this to look forward to. I'm flipping tomorrow. We've got some bushes on our hands here folks. I'll most likely switch them over to 12/12 by the end of the week.

My tent is 6' tall and the main GDP just measured in at 16" tall with the main NL#10 right behind it at 15.5" tall, so they've officially been flipped over to 12/12.
If the stretch doubles them in size, I'm looking at a solid 32" height on them. With my light raised as high as it can go in the tent, I lose 18" of potential height in the tent, so this leaves 54" of grow space. After countering in the 18" I need between the light and the top of my canopy, this gives a maximum pre-flip plant height of 18", so by flipping now I give myself a buffer of ~4".
Looking forward to seeing the ladies start flowering!
This is my third grow and the "low and flat" style has been very successful for me with incredible yields. I even won POTM on my first grow with my main cola that weighed in at over 2oz at chop, I'd love to see some more massive colas like that on this grow. On my last grow, most of my side colas almost matched the size of my main cola as well.I see a lot of growers that go very tall with there plants, It might be the strain or the grow style, but I grow like you do low and flat. With the Northern Lights your stretch will be moderate, maybe double in height (or a tad more)
I like the double trellis, you'll easily be able to tuck those taller colas down low to even bud height... Remember, don't let any colas get higher than the others or they will take over !
Seem like you know your stuff, I won't keep blabbing on and on.. Here is my last Northern Lights grow with 24 inches of height (Micro Grow)... Its the perfect strain for a small space ! (or a large space like yours)
Here is how the colas form if they are all kept even in height. I'll probably move back to a trellis like you for my next grow, this is a mainline..
Northern Lights Mainline---I strongly believe in equal lights for all colas !

Double trellis was something I've never seen before (albeit I only have 2.5 grows under my belt), started to experiment with it on my last grow and am really trying to dial it in on this one. I figured it would give me increased support of the branches and a second opportunity to spread the tops out a bit more.
Your NL plant looks great! Going to do my best to keep all the tops at/around the same height
I'm definitely on the spectrum, I don't know about expert thoughI'm in between grows living vicariously through others grows. I'm watching a few grow journals and I forget if they are newbies or experts. ---You seem to be on the expert side of this spectrum..
I thought I'd show you the stretch just for reference and to show how nicely the colas come together at even heights. Every one of my 8 colas here were monsters and almost identical in size and weight. Each cola weighed in over 3 ounces wet, the heaviest came in at 3.5 ounces.. (Note: a lot of this is stem weight, the stems were thicker than a pencil !)
Also, I'm not sure why many of the seedbanks say 7-9 weeks with NL.... I've watched countless grow journals and most go 9 weeks in flower. I also read a recommendation from a grower that only grows Northern Lights (has around 20 grows with NL)... He insists 65+- days in flower...
I'm definitely on the spectrum, I don't know about expert though
Those colas are pretty impressive, here's the one from my first grow that won me POTM - strain was Purple Punch:

I had someone tell me in one of my previous grow journals (I believe from my first grow) to pretty much always expect flowering to be +2 weeks from whatever the breeder's advertised flowering time is which seems to line up perfectly with your experience of watching various NL grow journals. Not really sure why the breeders do this but I don't mind waiting the extra 2 weeks for some top tier stuff
I'm always down to share my knowledge, just know that I still have a lot to learn myself lolThat bud is a work of art ! Very nice.... I'm thinking I can learn from you...
Yep, there is a problem with the 12/12 flip thing vs when Flower starts.. Many breeders mean 7-9 weeks from 12/ 12 others start the count after flowers (pistols) are showing (2-3 weeks)
You also have to factor the harvest window and grower preference. (about 2 weeks) Some harvest early some late, there is some wiggle room there...
I just wait for amber....
Isn't that a great feeling all the compliments about your grows. Good for you manI'm always down to share my knowledge, just know that I still have a lot to learn myself lol
Yeah I think a lot of breeders go more with "this many weeks from the time you start to see buds forming" as opposed to the day you flipped them to 12/12, that just seems to be my personal experience though.
I've been chopping mine when they're around ~30% amber or so. I love the way it smokes, and I get a lot of complements from people I smoke up when they come over too - even had a few "that's probably some of the best I've had". During my first grow I had a few people nagging on me for "treating it like a science experiment" and that "it's literally a weed, it'll grow no matter what you do". Facts - but environmental factors, grow medium, type of light (if you're growing indoors), watering/feeding schedules...all very important stuff to watch if you want some![]()
Nice ! I have a NL manifold pic above that is similar to what your doing here. I'm curious to see how it turns out..My nl 10 day one of 12-12View attachment 2368426
