does anyone harvest main cola first ?

I read yesterday that some people harvest by taking off the top cola and leaving for a week or two for nutrients to go to all the other bud sites, (and light to get down to lower nugs) . I've got a plant which did stretch up to the light so ive had to pull the main stem over out the way... Im wondering whether to take it off at the red line or could this stress the plant too much ?

Carl,
Lots of folks stage the harvest based on location and individual bud “ripeness”. At this point in life cycle the plant is not consuming or redirecting nutrients.

I've done it a few times. The plants finished okay.

I've done it many times if it ripens earlier than the lower branches.

Around 2 weeks before harvest I defoliate to prevent having to do a partial harvest.

I've harvested in stages before just fine.

Don't chop that yet though, that's nowhere near ready.

I don’t. I dry in the same tent as I grow in. So I have to harvest the entire tent.

thats an older pic , its still got about a week to go but the top is blocking a lot of light at the moment

Nope, I don’t understand why folks let a main cola take the spotlight. I keep every cola at equal height,,

Maybe someone can explain why you would let a main cola go ahead of the others? I must be missing something.
