Soak coir in Cal Mag solution or use it in watering can?

I am totally new to growing in coir. The local hydroponics store told me me to use Cal Mag when I water, and not to soak the coir in it. Everything I read online tells me to soak the coir. BTW, I'm growing in containers, not hydroponics. Which method should I use?
 
some coco brand come pre-buffered some don't and you'll need to buffer yourself. seem your's is pre-buffered according to your local store.

you can easily verify that googling your coco brand and product name with google, you should find a mention somewhere if it's buffered or not.

This... It all depends on what you have.

I always had to buffer my coco and soaking is the way to do it. Here's a Google search that will get you into the nitty gritty:
