I come from the millennials, generation of "you can have the leftovers... If there are any! (Heads up there won't be)"

🤣🤣

There's three groups of people in my generation, those who never left their parents house because they couldn't if they wanted to, those who did and will be in crippling debt forever because of it, and those who did and got lucky as hell. I'm lucky enough to fall into that last group most the time. Only like 1 in 15 of us that are putting everything that we are into owning our own homes someday will ever actually see that, and about 3/4 of those who do will end up being foreclosed on by a bank within 10 years regardless of their income if they're not making six plus figures. It's the very sad math of that situation. Why should we continue to work towards a dream that got pulled out from under our feet 15 years ago?

I don't know anyone my age besides myself that doesn't *have to* work beyond full-time hours while also perpetually falling behind in an economy that is literally swallowing you whole while you struggle. Aside from a few that never left their home and aren't working and give the rest of the generation that has worked the most hours by count for the least amount of pay contrasted to the value of the dollar in American history since the Great depression, we work pretty damn hard. Can confirm. All that's only gonna get shittier too lol

Sorry I'll shut up now I'm pretty sure this border lines on politics. Demographics is the next door neighbor to policy.

I apologize and I don't want that to seem snippy. The sad truth is that you guys were the last generation of "working towards a goal let's you reach the goal"

Sink or swim isn't a matter of work ethic or skills in my generation, it's a matter of luck. Straight up. I'm better off as I sit right now then any of my friends with diplomas, the very thing they were told was the green light to a future turned out to be the thing that took it away from them, and most of us for whatever reason don't fall under the realms of student loan forgiveness. That's only for the generation that came after us lol.

Niche skill sets only matter in open markets and no one ever told any of us that until we were in a closed market with niche skill sets that we were scammed into obtaining for ourselves.

Shit you got to make 60-plus Grand a year to live on your own without government assistance in the poorest parts of the country now, unless you're lucky enough to be grandfathered in by a fixed rate mortgage or landlord that's cool. And our corporations act like they don't understand that 60 Grand a year, even full time, isn't like 20 plus dollars an hour. Because it is.

It's not even legal for my generation to work enough hours to support themselves on their own in poor areas. We have to lump like four or five people per two or three bedroom house/apartment and lie to our landlords about it. Every time I go to the grocery store for a week of food for two people it's like $220. I'm coming up on $1,000 a month just to feed myself and one other person. Rent in crap areas is 15 grand a year. (Seriously, wtf?!?) Utilities are 5-8grand a year in most places for newly registered tenants . Don't even get me started on cars and transportation/maintenance costs with modern garbage vehicles we can afford to insure.

You can work full-time at minimum age right now in TN and not even make 10 grand a year. You can make double minimum wage right now and you can't even afford to live on your own in the poorest areas of the state because everyone is moving here from Cali because it used to be affordable like a decade ago lmao

I don't think you need to apologize bro!! Shits real. I can appreciate your info and I totally agree with ya man. I have a bunch of friends still living with their parents 'helping' them as they age....mostly can't afford a $2600 a month payment on a 2 bedroom apartment when they only make $50k a year. They opted for i university....I went the other route right outta highschool and learned all the trades hands on

I feel ya man. When I entered the work force, minimum wage was $3.25/hr.
You could actually survive on that, not eat steak much, but you could get
an efficiency apt or hotel room, a carton of smokes, a 1/4 of some killa ass
Colombian gold, some groceries, car insurance and a little gas money, oh,
and some .25 droughts at one of the 3 bars in my hometown of 1200 in
western NY State.

Get snippy all you want, it really pisses me off what this country has
become these days with the corporate & government greed that's
destroying the middle & lower class.😤😡🤬

College dropout here 🙋‍♂️. Worked jobs. No trades. Drove old cars, no car payments. Then in the housing crash of 08 I was sitting on enough cash that people were spending financing a new car. I bought a house the government and banks stole from everyone financing for less than 60k when it was financed and recently built at the time for over 250k. I still am stuck in similar lines of work with college grads working the same jobs as me for the same amount only I own my house. Unfortunately it’s the same players vanguard, blackrock, and state street buying up the houses and renting them out unlike the last crash where they let the banks and hud take the loss, then the bank bought it back. That’s the you will own nothing and be happy. What happened with the 2008 crisis lenders were giving out loans to those who didn’t qualify and they had to pay a fee to the lender if they didn’t have 20% down. So when the shit hit the fan ( decreased value. Adjustable rebate mortgage) people were bailing out because the investment wasn’t worth it…. If you wanted to keep it and asked for help, the bank would deny you. Why ? The mortgage insurance the government mandated you purchase means that the bank was paid in full for the loan you took out. Then when it went back to auction they would buy the property back for pennies on the dollar and resell it.
