Many ways to skin this cat...

I soak them in 78° water (heating pad) until they sink (imbibed). Then I place them in a moist paper towel (kept at 78°) until they crack and the radicle begins to emerge. Up to this point is usually about 24-30 hours.

Then I sow the seed. I don't want the radicle growing too much in the paper towel because a.) It easily gets embedded in the fibers as it emerges, raising chances for damage when removing, and b.) I want all the energy stored in the seed to be used to emerge into the growing medium, orient itself, and sprout.

I've been doing it this way for many years. I soak seeds in water over night then place them in a wet paper then into a baggie i also leave a corner opened so i can breath into the baggie to blow it up and seal it real quick. I set it on a plate and onto a warm service to create humidity within the baggie.
It usually takes no more than 48hrs for me to see a nice little root tail. If i don't remove the seed for 3 days it tends to root into the towel. I use seedling soil without nute/ferts to transplant it in. Small 2x2 soil cup and place a dome over them till they pop out of the soil.

BTW all my beans popped 100 percent germ untill I killed one knocked a fan on top of it

Wet paper towel is one of my faves too! But lately, I've been really into soil plugs. I feel like it's simpler for me: moisten the soil plug, put in the seed, and wait for it to pop. What's the weirdest method you've ever heard of?

I have had the worst luck germinating this year. I ended up spending some money on Compound Genetics and got 100% germination.

Usuallly soak for 24hra and put in paper towel and baggie.

Switched to makeup pads.

Tried direct sowing, which was a flop

I’ve had very good success this way. I learned it from the ILGM website. Unable to find the pic they used to show . It was helpful.

Soak the seed in room temp water in the dark. Minimum 12 hours 24 max. Bury in the soil about 3/8”-1/2” deep.

Spray the soil 3x a day keep it moist.

That’s it. I’d say I have better than 90% succes ✌️

be sterile... there are already so many steps outside of your control. individually wrapped napkins right into a paper bag with sterile water and a scored seed is where I am at now. 3-5 days the tap root will be 3+ inches and ready for whatever transplant method you want

i used to do water cups to 90% or so, then did living web germination with endophytes, now all about the sterile paper towel germinations
