Hey I’ve had a bunch not fade at all, still green as can be till day I chopped haha, if those pistils pull in and trichs all milky and seein some amber I’m happy!
Yeah it’s a different rodeo. They pretty much never fade in flower any more. Sometimes it makes me worried I was early. I’m thinking I’m still a couple weeks out.

Hell yeah, it’s not like running amendments or even synthetics, they have everything they need stead till the end vs cutting out feeding or like when I ran organic amendments and I would feed last at week 3-4 then just use teas etc up till week 7ish then just water till finished but with everything constantly being renewed and put back into the soil they never get hungry

Did you grow with synthetics etc before, have you noticed any lack of density or anything different since going to living soil?

Really starting to shift gears now, Frostette is showing she’s ready to start goin, all nice new leaves, nice and clean can’t wait to see how she does, I’ve never ran her under less than 550-600w so it’ll be interesting to see how she does under half that power, but this light has the LM301H diodes and they are some strong LED’s to power ratio from what I saw last run. Very intense light, Frostette traditionally does well under intense LED’s, I’ve ran her under about 5 different lights now and she’s very similar every time can’t wait to see her in this living soil, she has amazing flavor and aromas and she kicks like a mule, awesome strain and awesome pheno

New mothers are looking happy as hell as well, I’ll push them as far as I can in these 1 gals in the light recipe, I plan to cut them way back once they bush out more to reduce plant size to maintain them easier

Not directed at me, but I also stay green all the way through to harvest. Jeremy Silva always seem to have fade, I have been wondering if my Nitrogen is too high, but too cheap to do a soil test. My buds have been nice and dense. I have noticed my plants have a lot of fan leaves which has led to more trimming but that’s my only real complaint. This is from day 45 from a couple days ago, starting to stack nicely. But you can see how leafy it is.

Very nice! Yeah I’ve heard as much about minimal fade in living soil, being my first run I’m not sure what to expect but I have photos of all 3of these phenos start to finish and the Frostette like I said I’ve ran multiple times so it’ll be cool to see the differences, now I have heard that vs fade there tends to be more color expression like purples and blacks etc in the living soil so it’ll be interesting to see if I get more or less color expression in the living soil as well

All 3 just before or at harvest, one clone of each running currently and one mother of each in the 2x4

On your ecowits, it looks like the flashing led isn’t covered. Did you get both covers, one for battery and one for light? Is that black line for a watering carrot?

I did ocean Forrest with the drain to waste feeding schedule then switch to sunshine mix4 with general hydro flora nova drain to waste schedule. I don’t miss phing water and mixing gallons and gallon of nutrients each day.

No I diddnt they are all exposed, not concerned atm as I’m running 20/4 for light scheudule and nonissue with light at night in veg I’ll put gorilla tape over the top sensors in flower but with that light you shouldn’t have herm issues anyways in stable genetics I run my Wyze Cam V3’s in 3 of my tents, the one for the 4x8 is currently about 14” from the kahuna 3

Those wyze cams run 6x far red LED’s for the night vision that run at 940nm wavelegnth (higher than plants (Known) visible light spectrum) I’ve ran those as close as 12” from colas for all 8 weeks of flower with no herm issues, and those w always in the tents and on

No the black tube is the wire for the EcoWitt WH51L Deep moisture sensors

Wow, that’s amazing difference with the deep compared to the shallow. Mine are all the shallow variety and are 40% I bet my soil is wetter deeper down than I realize. I might need to order the deeper ones to confirm that.

You would think so! Quite the opposite! Super interesting watching the meters interact with eachother, I thought that’s how it would go, turns out my bigger struggle is keeping those deep sensors up! I mainly water due to those getting lower is what I’m finding!

Thanks brother! It’s super helpful I’d never know the moisture percentage is dropping without them!
Do you think you could use them in your pro mix set ups? I dont need any more gadgets but I was wondering if i could make use of them LOL!

Oh I’m sure you could! You’d want a large pots though so it probably wouldn’t be worth it to buy both the deep and shallow, the shallow would be helpful just to see your dryback rate

Great to know. I’ll check it by hand end of run and get those if it’s overly saturated or really dry. The blumat drippers are doing an amazing job keeping mine around 40%. Highly recommend those. I only feed once a week with 2 gallons of water which is buildabloom recharge great white and big six micro.

Today is day 49

I gotta pick up build a bloom, I do have build a flower top dress I’ll be using and I do use the big 6 as well, I have the Coots Gnarly barley, and the FPF they seem to love it, I’ll hit them with the build a flower around flip probably even though they shouldn’t need anything at all in these bags for this first run but I wanna keep the nutrient content steady, once the cover crop comes down right around flip I’ll cover the chop with the build a flower then put down a fresh layer of straw on top of that and probably just water with teas etc through flower.

After flower I’ll replant cover crop, hit them all with the gnarly barley, I do wanna get some kashi blend and a few other things to top dress with between runs but I have at least probably 3-4 weeks of veg to go then flower so plenty of time for more pickups!

I like to top dress with worm castings and craft blend. This is my first run with the big 6 and it’s been a huge benefit. I’m gonna get the buildaveg on my next order. What straw do you use? Are you concerned with pests coming in on it or do you do something to it before bringing it in?

I buy normal straw bales, you want to pasteurize it NOT sterilize it!

Hot water Pasteurization will kill bugs as well as weed seeds in the straw and any bad bacteria’s or funguses.

You want to get the water to 160f to 180f but no hotter, find the sweet spot and hold it steady, pasteurization will kill off the bugs I belive around 140f in 30ish minutes
The 160-180f is your goal, hold it there for 60-90 minutes will kill off any wild weed seeds in the straw, going over 180f and you start killing the beneficial microbes, and that’s the last thing we wanna do! I have a full bale sitting outside been out there all winter in a closed garbage bag brought in enough for the 3 pots (ended up a shade short but that’s ok the cover crop took over) once I need more I’ll grab another slab and boil it up (warning your house will smell like a barn for a few hours lol) I plan to wait till it’s a shade warmer and I gotta get a fire going to burn up some old shit. When I do that ill set up a metal rack of some kind and pasteurize some more

So far between the soil, and the straw in 4 weeks since I set these up I have not gotten one single gnat or any other bugs I can find

I also use BTI
