Same here haha, not much to do but to enjoy the show 😁

It’s about a week out from chop, in addition to this delivery I have a sack of rice hulls coming

Plan is for each 30 gallon pot

Cover crop chop n drop
Cover with BAS build a flower 1”-1.5” layer mixed with
1 Cup Kashi blend
1 cup craft blend
1/2 cup gnarly barley
1/2 tsp big 6

Water in and all waterings from now forward build a bloom 1tsp gal, horticultural aloe 1/4tsp gal, FPF once weekly at 1ml/gal

It’s all about vertical growth now I’ll let them come up another 2”-3” then I’ll defol underneath, and start pushin em

All will be covered with a half inch of rice hulls
Oh shit! So the clover gets chopped and mixed in now and the N goes to work right away? I wrongly assumed it was chopped at the end to build the nitrogen back up for the next veg run. But I guess in a perpetual cycle the timing doesn't matter as long as there's always some decomposing in the soil. Great shit man!

You soil cats are impressive. That's a lot of shit to juggle to get it just right.

Build a soil! Doing living soil right I see!
Bro you gotta try the Colorado castings if you haven't. They ate unscreened and I haven't had a bug problem since. It's got predator mites, beetles, centipedes, worms, all sorts of good stuff 👌
Oh believe me I’ve looked at it haha but at $90 a cu. Ft its damn pricey, looks like it’s worth it but I still have a bag of EWC (Coast of Maine) I gotta use up

Seeing as I’m not using as much in the large pots as they each have about 40-50 worms between red wigglers and nightcrawlers to make their own

But I do plan to give it a go soon!

Yes most would let it grow, it actually pulls nitrogen from the air and deposits it into the soil, and also becomes organic material to build layers, I could leave it going but with the top dress I have planned I’d probably bury half of it anyways so figured work it in, once I chop and start drying I’ll sow seeds again I’m kinda devising a plan with the amount of tents I have, I may reduce down to 2 pots running at a time, either the 4x8 alone or the 4x4 and 3x3

While I run the opposite tents I plan to swap with I run each run, I’ll sow cover crop, let it grow out, chop and replant, figure that’ll take 8 or so weeks, I’ll pick up a 2nd PL1000 and put one over each pot that’s “out of service” to propagate the cover crop etc that way I can build the soil between each run in the pot

Once the pots become too much I do plan to eventually pick up most likely a 3x6 grassroots bed, then I’ll move all the soil from these pots in thwre

That’s probably 4-5 runs out though I still have about 6” of headroom in each pot to build layers did that intentionally left them a cubic foot short each, so while
Being 30 gallon pots in ow I’m at 3 cu ft at approx 7 gal per cu ft so around 21 actual gallons in each 30 gallon pot atm

Thanks for the reminder,
it looks like it's going on
Idgaf o'clock 🤜 🤣

nah, but also, kinda.

i poke a hole in the lid of a water bottle and water them like im pissing in them 🤣 makes it easy for me to keep track of the amount I'm giving as well

It's a lot easier to get back there to water than it is to get to the back up top to tie stuff up

If I really wanted to I could. I just really don't wanna fuck with it lmao. The one needing tied up is the special Queen in the back right of the tent

Normally I have a net in there, but I didn't put it up this go because all the plants I was flowering stretch a different rates. Some ended up needing to have some s*** stacked under the pots to keep my canopy even ish. When I say improvising and winging it is 99% of my cannabis growing I def meant it lol

That little laptop desk is where im sitting making this post lmao.
My grow methods may seem half assed to many. But the point where lazy meets efficiency is where it's at with cultivating your own cannabis

Im usually the one laughing behind a screen with a tongue in cheek on the forums and reddit threads..

Costs me about $125-200 per Lb of indoor smoke i produce.... Including electricity, soil, and nutrients all. My outdoor investment to return ratio is more like $40 a lb 😵 😎

I agree! These motherfuckers practically grow themselves if you stick to basics and don't love them to death.

if theres anything im good at, it's pulling a hugely practical return on a carefully minimized investment lol. Call it a lesson learned from the commercial growing world.

But doing so ethically (in a way that doesn't feel morally grey or hollow) is almost an art by itself in my opinion.

I remember when these plants looked like itty bitty babies for what seemed like 2-3 weeks then KaBoom tent filled looks awesome Mike they have certainly found their footing 👍

Great start brother! Im gunna do the blind folded with one hand tied behind my back (again) this season! 🤣 but definitely have a game plan (kind of) 😂🤣

me too! im excited. not putting too much stock into it but i want to try harder than I did last summer. just having a whole new nutrient line up is a game changer : )

✌️
1000% Lets go brother!

Pb4 finaly starting to put on her makeup.

She's a very* potent, and very* pretty flower by finish. She's probably going to look a lot like the PB in my avatar picture

Now I know she don't look like much compared to the others but she's got at least 4 more weeks to go. she takes a bit longer then the others. She's prob the dankest plant in the tent behind banjo though. I had to recover her from some issues related to poor soil choice early in flower too. I've also hit her with a bunch of fem pollen for a peaceblaster F2.

I hear ya 100% brother!

My goal with living soil was to move to a hands off approach, it’s labor intensive to get rollin but after that it’s a once a month top dress with some fresh organics, and just watering c the build a bloom, FPF and Aloe aren’t even required at all but that takes no time especially not PH’ing it’s just measure add, stir, spray timing myself I can mix and water all 3 of the 30 gallon pots with a. Gallon each in about 8 minutes, I’ve been there more frequently while trying to evaluate my watering practices and found while most say 35% is the best range for living soil moisture I do find that to be true, on the shallow meters, on the deep meters 35% and they look like they are in the Sahara desert, 50% in the lower 1/3 zone and 30-38% in the top 1/3 is where I’m seeing the extremely happy point in the plants

luckily I did figure it would be a dial in timeframe but man these meters basically Eliminated that whole process, it wasent a how often situation anymore it’s just a read the numbers game now i relaized quickly my old method of picking up the pot wasn’t gunna work with 200+ lb grow bags 🤣

These were all watered today, I found plant 2 seems to resist increasing above 51-53% plant 1 the lower zone likes to stay a shade wetter in the meters i give a 5% variance as I spray water instead of pour so when I’m moving the wand around I may focus on the opposite side of the pot more unknowingly

When I water with the sprayed and the 1 gal per minute head I count to 30 watering the whole surface, go to the next plant and repeat back to 1 then 2 etc until the Chapin is empty then I let it settle, usually it’s a 1-2 hour settle timeframe before you can reliably trust the moisture percentage as the water moves through the soil zones

I gotta say though these girls are DRINKIN, they can take 1 gallon a day and not even notice,

I like to go about 1.5 gallons per pot per watering I do plan to increase to 2 gallons and push the moisture level up in the lower zone as stretch starts

Here’s a daily and weekly, and 24 hour moisture chart

Agreed, costs are minimal after initial set up.
I'm poor and had to piece shit together for
over at least a year before starting up from
scratch after all these years. (I could have
started much sooner & cheaper with soil
and smaller everything, but I knew the hydro
setup I wanted & waited until I had it mostly
together) I believe tho that a grow is never
truly 100% complete.

I'd say my costs are higher than that, I'll have
to get a couple cycles in to see. 🤜 🤓 💨

i came pre prepared to inform you that im definitely not poking at any growers making informed decisions, nor choices stemming from practical lifestyle benefits 👍 🤣

Oh I hear ya haha, to each their own, everyone has a reason they choose their method, that’s the best part about growing! And probably why I change methods so frequently I enjoy that learning curve challenge and it also helps me as a grower outdoors in all my growing ventures. I knew I’d go to living soil at some point especially since that’s how I run my veggie garden, but didn’t think I’d have the opportunity it’s for quite some time
