Really itching to start growing again. Harvested my last grow in October, so it’s been a while. Didn’t want to try a winter tent grow to ensure my back had healed enough from surgery.

Far too much work to move the grow tent into the basement right now, so leaving the tent set up in the same upstairs room as last year. Pretty annoyed that my 4x4 Vivosun grow tent had an issue w. one of the zippers after all of one grow! Really hoping I can fix it, cause at the moment, I can’t open one of the side walls. These things should really last more than a couple months before being messed up!

Going with four Auto Fems this grow. Trying all Autos this time because I’ve been hit with Bud Rot the last two seasons due to the late season weather in N. Virginia. Hoping to get two cycles of Autos this season.

I’m going to grow:
-Blue Dream Auto Fem (Sativa Dominant) from Greenpoint Seeds
-CBD Auto Fem (1:1 CBD to THC) from Phoenix Seed Bank / The Vault
-Sugar Granddaddy (Indica Dominant) Auto Fem from Walipini Seed Bank
-White Widow Auto Fem (Indica Dominant) from Green House Seeds / ILGM

FINALLY cleaned out my grow tent and wiped it down w. Clorox wipes.

Put my 4 seeds in shot glasses of distilled water. Just checked my last grow journal – I’m starting w/in two days of when I started last year.

And so it begins…

No tap roots yet.

No tap roots yet. Placed seeds in moist paper towels in baggies. Placed them under a sink where it should be pretty warm. Hopefully, I’ll see tap roots Soon!!

The Blue Dream & Sugar Granddaddy both have tap roots showing.

Not sure if I should be concerned about the other two seeds yet.
Would really suck if they end up being duds!

OMG!
I am such an idiot.

Now, I knew that I’d be writing that sentence at some point this grow. But honestly, I didn’t think it would be during the first week!!
Due to severe migraines over the last 4.5 days, I haven’t checked any of the seeds for their progress.

So when I checked today, I found out that:
1. The White Widow still doesn’t have a tap root;
2. All the other seeds had tap roots so long that they wove their way through the paper towel.

I placed some rockwool cubes into distilled water and then put the seeds in the cubes. Placed the cubes in a humidity dome inside my grow tent. HOPING that they’ll still grow out.

Q: Should I even bother trying to grow these seeds or just start all over?

🤦‍♂️

6 of 1, half dozen of the other! If you start over, you’re only out a week and a few seeds! But I don’t think a few little bits of paper are going to derail anything! That’s what you get paid the big bucks for! Making these decisions!😁🐒. Sleepy!🥱😴😆

Amazingly enough, looks like the cotyledons have arrived on what I thought were totally dead tap root seeds! Now I need a chance to place them in dirt and bury most of the stem so not so leggy. They might actually recover??

Still no luck w. the White Widow seed. Looks like it’s a dud. Dropped another White Widow seed in a shot glass of distilled water. Luckily, I have a few seeds of this cultivar. Also, on a random sidenote – prefer to use “strain”, but looks like “cultivar” is the proper word?

White Widow #2 has a tap root! Finally!!

Hoping to get a chance tomorrow morning to transplant the seedlings into their fabric grow pots.

Tried to get the humidity in all my mason jars back to normal. Added small bits of bread, removed the special lids and put the mason jar lids on instead. Will check tomorrow to see what the story is on humidity.

Transplanted the seedlings. Put the Blue Dream Auto and the Sugar Granddaddy Auto in 7-gallon fabric grow pots. Used Fox Farm Ocean Forest soil, perlite, and mycorrhizal fungi. Added some growth powder to the rockwool cubes and topped them all off w. worm castings. Put them in the tent. The 20-inch saucers are ridiculously large! Have two fans in the tent, along w. the humidifier. The Autos look TINY in those 7-gallon grow pots!

4/4/25 – Day #20

Very basic Rookie Question #1:
When do you start counting days? I set Day #1 as the day I dropped seeds in water. Is this the proper way to count?

Very basic Rookie Question #2:
Seems like all the seed companies have different ways of measuring Flowering Time. Some can be read as from Seed to Harvest times. Others are how long the actual time in flower is. How to figure this out?

Just a guess, but with autos, I would imagine the clock starts ticking as soon as the seed pops! And as far as the other goes, I don’t think the listed times really matter! You grow the hell out of them as best you can, they flower on their own schedule, and you take them to the finish line visually! It takes as long as it takes! Plants can’t count! Tick! Tick! Tick!😆✌️

And I know nothing about growing in rockwool! But if transplanting it into soil slows down or delays the plant till the roots can get out into the soil, even for a few days as opposed to going out of a solo, it could be a little counterproductive with autos! Maybe it speeds it up! I don’t know! But with autos any delays in veg can add up and cost you a little bit at harvest time! just something to chew on! Maybe others will chime in! Knock it out of the park!😁

Thank you! Sounds good to me - I'll start counting from the day the seed pops instead of when drop in water. Won't be more than a couple days difference anyways. As for the Flowering Times, just trying to understand what different sites are claiming w. their seeds. For outdoor Photos, I NEED the fastest strains they have...
