Here is my question, want to pop some seeds again. Get growing as I'm behind on doing it. I have a heat mat , and before I had issues. Lost ALot of seeds. Maybe I just got better but I'm not counting on that.ðŸĪŠ

Then my new method became 100% reliable.

My 100% reliable method was.

I put the seeds on a wet paper towel in a disposable left over Chinese food container , some wet paper towels on top of the seeds , with the lid flipped over, so it could vent and then placed it on top of the PlayStation.ðŸĪĢ Usually by the 3rd day I was good ! Worked every time !!!
Probably because I always kept an eye on it ..because it was right there , but it seems to be perfect temp with the container I use.

Problem
PlayStation diedðŸ˜ŦðŸ˜Ŧ

Solution?
I have a germination heat mat , but don't really know what kinda temp to set it at, to no ruin my seeds . I only have a few left. Don't want to cook them or soggy bottom them?

Help , TIA

Photo is the container with my happy seeds from last year.

I pop seeds in wet paper towels in tupperware, and haven't bothered with a heat mat. I just put the container in a dark cupboard. My indoor room temp is around 68F and I usually get 100% germination.

Also here is my heat mat

Oh that's interesting! I kinda see your point . But I have high humidity, here is always high . Like I have to run a dehumidifier to get below 70% and the AC is always about 72. PlayStation never cooked them would be on at times during the day not all the time , off at night basically, I kept them moist. Sitting out they always seemed to get spoiled without the warmth. The room I germinate in is my media room is also my dry cure room. Is like a movie theater room. Like I run a dehumidifier when I harvest .

I just throw them in some water. I wait to see them start to split as soon as I see them opening up. I know that the seed is viable then I just go ahead and plant it.
Works pretty damn good.
I’ve always just thought of it as instead of using a paper towel and a heating mat just switch it up with the light that you’re gonna sprout them with anyway because that’s a decent heat source alone now as long as you don’t saturate the dirt that you plant your seedling in and you use a spray bottle in order to water it That keeps the humidity localized around the seed in the dirt and is basically the same thing as using a paper towel and Tupperware and your seed sprout sooner
It’s what I’ve done for a long time and it works great paper towel. Method works great to though. I just tried to think of a way to you know kind of streamline it and it always works.

I usually put mine in a paper towel moist inside of Ziploc baggie inside my soft side gun case then it goes in the closet for about 3 days no peeking works every time

Switxh to xbox or internet router?
I would just elevate your towel soo bottom is wet but towel is in the air where humidity is high but ita not wet keeps the towel wet enough

I usually put them immediately in dirt and outside in the sun after the get a tail. Last year I did them on St Patty's Day .Outside temps here are already 85° I have free sunlight , but I do have a small grow light.

Unfortunately have the dumb fire stick now , Xbox one died tooðŸ˜Ŧ no set top boxes anymore ðŸĪĢðŸĪĢ

My weather forecast... So I should be ok to just try doing them outside on a wet paper towel? Like in the shade ? Dark place ?

that works great if you water it not too little not too much....

You can get a thermostat for your heat mat pretty cheap, like 15 bucks on Amazon. I put my seeds between moist paper towels between 2 plates on the heat mat set at 80°f. They usually pop in 2 to 3 days.

P.S. a couple of hot breathes before you close the bag
That's how i do it after soaking in water overnight, wet papertowels, then into a zip baggy and i breath a puff of warm breath and lock it. Place it into a cuboard above my stove. I like the humidity it creates and check it 2x a day.

I use a heat mat and just put the seeds in a wet paper towel, put the paper towel in a baggie, put that baggie in a small box(been using PokÃĐmon boxes from McDonalds packs) and place them directly on top of the heat mat. The mat I have is basically identical to yours. 100% germination and they usually pop within 1-3 days. My mat brand is vivosun.

Typically I'll see 100% germination in less than 48 hours in the 72-76f range (using a seedling heat mat). I have also had the same results upwards of 80f, but I'm a bit weary going above that. This of course all depends on the quality of the seeds you're starting with. 🙃

Oh that's a thought !! I have a place above microwave and stove. Stays pretty warm there . I just worry I'll forget them 😂 cause I'm super super forgetful! If it's not in my immediate view . That's why I put them on the PlayStation, cause i see them. Have to set a reminder .ðŸĪŠ
