Hey everyone

Just like the title says I have a 10x10 room that is pretty decked out and I just came across some powdery mildew. Did it usual spray etc etc but this room is getting to the point where I need it to be automated so I am looking to add UVC as soon as possible to nip this in the but. What do you guys use if you do use UVC what do you suggest for long-term or something short-term etc.

The ceiling is 8 ft tall so I have only a few feet to the canopy so I have to be mindful of wattage. I'm really curious as to spacing them out in application

I really look forward to your help and bouncing ideas around

I've got a bit of bad news for you ... once powdery mildew has set in and established itself, there's no saving the grow. I have UVC leds but its for germicidal purposes before starting a grow or after finishing a run ... but it also harms plant tissue. I've read the articles where people have stated that UVC is effective at killing fungal plant diseases, but none of them have been approved for use on cannabis anywhere where weed is legal.

Once you've decided what you want to do about your grow ... beautiful plants, so I know the news above doesn't ride well. It didn't with me either when I brought some WPM inside from my outdoor grow so yes, I've been in your shoes. You'll want to do a thorough cleanup of all surfaces in the grow room. 70% isopropyl alcohol will kill any live fungus and their spores. Then give it another go.

or so I had hoped. What LED are you using for UVC? I have been reading about it for a few months and am now gonna pull the trigger..

As far as I have read and been told by the locals, with UVC I can beat it esp having just a few leaves. I sprayed lost coast therapy so it is "gone" for now and hoping to get the uvc in there to possibly eradicate it. Dr Bugbee has written alot about it and here is a short on it.. just a few moments can kill it, and the cleanlight pro sounds like it to me thus far

Anyone use a clean light pro

This is the UVC LED I purchased. It's not on a wand like I think you're looking for. It's simply a germicidal led bulb and would likely be too powerful to hold over the infected leaves and such.

Even if you want to use UVC to attempt to kill the infection, still spray the room with 70% isopropyl alcohol between runs. The problem with WPM is once its in, its hard to get it gone without taking a moment to shut things down and reset the whole operation.

Edit: I just re-read your post. It sounds like these plants are still in veg ... I myself wouldn't run them ... but if they are still in veg, you have a fighting chance.

I used the sulfur bomb before this run, but it has to be this particular plant that I have that is the suspect.. I think the sulfur was overkill in myh situation before, but also check on amazon for an ozone generator rather than the sulfur candle.

As for my situation, I sprayed with lost coast, and its all clear while I await the CleanLight Pro 36w UVC .. I just have to wait til lights out to run it. You basically wave it across the plant up/down etc never longer than 2-5 sec in one spot and bye bye molds and bugs :)

I also asked AI because, why not, and they agreed with my research. This is from GROK:

Why UV-C for Powdery Mildew?
UV-C light is effective against powdery mildew (e.g., Podosphaera species) because it damages the DNA of spores and mycelium, preventing reproduction. Research indicates that a dose of approximately 1,720 µW/cm² of UV-C is sufficient to kill powdery mildew spores, though daily low-dose applications are safer and more effective than a single high-dose hit. Nighttime applications are optimal, as powdery mildew’s DNA repair mechanisms are less active in the dark.

Recommended UV-C Lights for a 10x10x8 Grow Room
For a 10x10 grow room (100 sq ft floor area, 8 ft height), you need UV-C lights with enough intensity and coverage to treat all plant surfaces effectively. Here are two recommended options tailored to your setup, balancing coverage, safety, and practicality:
Option 1: CleanLight Pro (36W Handheld Unit)
  • Why? The CleanLight Pro is designed for horticultural use, specifically to combat powdery mildew and botrytis on plants. Its 36W UV-C lamp provides strong output for medium to large grow rooms, and it’s portable, allowing precise application.
  • Specs: 36W UV-C lamp, ~45 cm long, includes UV safety glasses and gloves.
  • Coverage: Suitable for a 10x10 room when used daily to scan plants. Each pass takes 2–5 seconds per plant section at a distance of 5–10 cm.
  • Where to Buy: Available from retailers like BGHydro or CleanLightDirect. Approximate cost: $600–$800.
  • Pros:
    • Horticulture-specific, with proven results in cannabis and other crops.

    • Portable and easy to control exposure time.
    • Includes safety gear.
  • Cons:
    • Manual operation is labor-intensive for a 10x10 room.
    • Requires daily use for best results.

This is not my native language lol but the video shows it well, it is supposedly tailored for plants not just cutting boards lol
