Yes bigger pots will make bigger plants, plants base their growth off their root zone space,, like trees plants are extremely in tune to their environments above and below, and around, Crown Shyness is a great example of trees being aware of their sourrounding environment
If they detect expansive root zone area they’ll continue to expand, a well rooted plant cut back then allowed to veg with a hige root ball till new growth then flip would likely produce larger colas as it would have large availability to nutrients to plant size
