That's a MEAN ass hook echo in Kentucky heading my way.

@Mikedin and @cpurola prob know how to read a velocity product from a radar. Blue circle is radar location, Red circle, well theres like 260 mph of gate to gate shear and a debris ball going up about 4000ft in there. 😳

Basically that means there is with absolute certainty a massive ass tornado on the ground in that red circle. There are particles and debris, circulating there well in excess of 200mph, and there's debris high enough in the atmosphere to be read on Doppler radar.

Green means reflective surfaces are moving towards radar, red means away. See how tiny and intense that one little spot is? Yea, that's a particularly violent tornado, happening right this very second. A small dot of red that intense, perpendicular to radar location directly against green that dark. in this context means very bad joo joo
I was at my great aunts house back in Marceline Missouri back in the early 90’s for a family reunion. Well the day before, a tornado hit the ground and ran right through the path of the house. Surprisingly, the only thing that happened was a few shutters being ripped off and a rain barrel was set on the other side of the fence not spilling much. The house 50 feet down the road became toothpicks. To this day that’s the loudest noise I’ve ever heard.

Ive seen a couple of the little rope ones back in KC and kansas. never been hit by one. Good news tho is most are little ones like that

in this particular instance the only thing that makes this kind of velocity product and debris signature, is the big baddie monster wedge kind of tornado. And went right through the center of somerset and london kentucky both, and theres a second one going through Somerset right now with a radar signature damn near as evil lookin as the first one. Cyclonic wind speeds near ground level close to 250 mph

im talkin the ef4/ef5 kinda thing. Most towns in east tn and Ky dont even have tornado sirens either.

I was about to say. That’s at least F4 material and nobody wins in those. Intense violence everywhere once those hit.

Most are really small and fairly brief but the big ones are a flaming pile of s*** when they hit populated areas.

first one, the super nasty one with the debris radar signature as high as 4000ft, went right through the center of somerset, when switched over to google maps to see what was directly under the debris signature.. and it was a retirement RV community... So i stopped looking ahead of it ☹️ i dont think i wanna know.

@TheGoldenRoad dude, i felt the air change from 150 miles away, had the eerie sudden calm, hairs stand up thing before i even looked at the radars.

Was smoking a doobie on the porch and that "something just went not right" feeling sank in.

My hair stood up when I read that. It’s an ugly feeling. Yuck. The calm before impending doom.

Even the birds and crickets are dead silent outside rn. The storms are still like 100+ miles away. The air isnt moving at all, but the clouds are truckin high speed across the sky.

You'll might know this trick already, maybe not. I thought of it, but no way I came up with it I'm sure!
Main heavy?
I like to use these bamboo chopsticks when I can!

The girlfriend eats takeout sushi twice a week, I’ve got hundreds of them, excellent garden stakes.

i kept seeing box turtles in the yard mowing today too. Isnt there a thing about seeing tarrapins before storms?
I think that’s more Cousin Earl’s Midwest Myth than anything. I’ve heard that many times but I don’t think there’s much correlation. Terrapins are usually more active after it rains and the ground is cooler.

well i know its just an old wives tale. Its still funny i saw em all today though lol

It’s spring, probably laying eggs. . I hate seeing them dead on the road, I always pull over and relocate them. My turtle Bobby was a hatchling crawling across a parking lot.
