ive grown in a closet and my top tip would be to flip them into flower (if they are photoperiod ) when they are Half the size you want them to end up because they will stretch up to the light

Some stretch and become twice their size. Others will stretch 3x. The stretch has some genetic qualities involved so best practice would be to research the strain prior to the grow. If you plan the stretch at 2X and it ends up at 3X, a grower could potentially run out of space.

Well, autos are different. You don't "change the light cycle" to force flowering. With autos, I would pay close attention to what the breeder says the plant's final size will be.
