I’m on eastern Long Island. All the regular farmers I know with greenhouse’s are pretty much empty in the summer, it’s sooooo hot. I think you might have to remove some of the panels to keep the heat down. Great for fall with the heavy dew, but summer, not to sure. Good luck!I

Cape Cod here. I'm building a tunnel GH. Nothing fancy. PVC and Film. I'm going to configure it so that the sides roll up and I will have a door on each entrance. There will be as much airflow as if they were outside. My goal isn't so much getting the benefits of a green house, although early season when hardening plants it might help; my goal is to keep the weather off the plants. This area can also fluctuate in temperature. Last year we had some days that dipped from high 80's to mid 60's, and there is always that occasional T-Storm that rolls off Cape Cod or Buzzards Bay; storms that will literally destroy plants not covered (as I learned the hard way). Keeping Buds dry doesn't hurt either. I could have avoided about 3 pounds worth of lost weed with this step.

Don't forget that the condensation from the plastic will cause problems if it falls on maturing plants. It's a leading cause of greenhouse cannabis grow issues. Otherwise, your plan sounds pretty good!

This is a good point, and I did some searching because of this. I found this IRAC anti condensation film sold by Farmers Plastic Supply https://farmplasticsupply.com/greenhouse-films/IRAC4year

I'm hoping that between having maximum ventilation and a high-quality film, I may avoid the condensation. If not, I will literally just remove all the film until/unless it rains, which is what I may do anyway.

Just some updates I did have to chop them down and there right back up to the ceiling again
I installed a Drip irrigation system what a should have done this first I also put in a exhaust fan attached to a thermostat that really pulls out the heat and a aluma net 40% shade cloth so far so good at keeping the temps down

Yes indeed it’s already a full house !! I’m debating on putting some outside the issue is to many animals would enjoy the plants for lunch

Rabbits nibbled on mine when I first planted 2 years in a row. End up with a fork low on the plant, makes it prone to splitting in heavy wind. I installed 2’ chicken wire around existing 6’ fence. My weed whacking ripped the fence, perfect for baby rabbits. I have friends who grow outdoors with deer , never had a problem with them eating anything. Good luck, hurricane's are not our friends on Long Island!

I have been looking I can get an electric fence for not a bad price I think I might go that route I have a video of this groundhog munching on my sunflowers little bastard

It’s been a while and just wanted to update the grow had been some ups and downs but all good last down was my own stupidity for not calibrating my ph meter and watering my plants with below 5 ph water thankfully I think I caught it in time
Plants got so big I transplanted to 15 gallon grow bags and switched to build a soil 3.0 which is what helped with the ph screw up just a couple of picks and you guys wee all right about the greenhouse being to small

Marigolds have been solid for me as a gentle pest buffer, and I’ve had good luck releasing ladybugs early so they settle in instead of flying off. I also lean on strong airflow and clean spacing to keep issues low-key. My greenhouse from fullbloomlightdep.com made it easier since the climate stays steady, so the bugs and plants stay happy without much spraying.

corsican mint is a good companion plant , very peppermint , which is supposed to keep insects away ...OR you could hang some fake dragonflies around your plants , i tried that last summer and it works ,
