Hello everyone hope you're well.

This is my first grow and i think i'm in the process of messing it up but not sure what i've done wrong. This is watermelon kush and 1 og kush.

I got the seeds and planted them in the royal seeds starter thing and placed in my window. Then i transfered them to my tent.

week 1 - i just watered and put the light 2.5ft above at 50% (lowest setting on my light). I kept the humidity around 65-70% and the temp 20C in the day 18C at night

week 2 - water with shogun nutrients but kept the rest the same.

They look like this - which i think it a) not grown as much as i expected by this time and b) looking at bit rough. Also could someone tell me what that brown thing is on the end of the small leaf in one of the pics?

Andy advice would be very much appreciated, this is a stealth grow in the middle of nowhere Yookay. Thank you!!!!!

PS my wife put 3 seeds in our polytunnel in alpaca manure and they are doing loads better than mine 😂

Can you give more info? Is this a photoperiod? How often and how much do you water? What soil are you using?

These are 2 weeks old? I would think they would be further along at 2 weeks. When others pop on, they could help you better.

Also, to me it looks like the brown thing is part of the shell. They sometimes get stuck. A few drops of water on the shell might loosen it up.

Ah yes i think its the shell! Thanks

They have been in the tent 2 weeks this sunday coming, i followed a youtube guide (the strain show) so this is what i've done:

They are in coco. 20C. 65-70 humidity. 18 hours light a day 2.5ft above @ 50%.

week 1
- watered once, no nutrients

week 2 (which started sunday) - i fed first lot of nutirents per the shogun feeding chart on their website. I checked the ph and the PPM which i kept around 200.

Thanks

they look like they have stopped growing but they are putting roots down, after a bout a week of growing roots it will start again. i mist mine at this point with some clonex or diluted root juice.
i read a few weeks ago that goat and alpaca droppings are some of the best manure you can get for cannabis , probably because of their gut bacteria

Thank you for your advice. I have some root juice i'll mist some on

I let my coco get a little dry before I water in the seedling stage. Not sure what coco you have but im guessing you didn’t buffer it. Maybe it’s pre buffered? I don’t spray anything on my seedlings. Look up damping off. It’s an immediate killer. Never give coco plain water always do a light dose of your nutrients and when you do water make sure you have some run off to rinse the old stuff out or it’ll build up. Let them dry a little and they should take off. Once it has good roots start watering at least once a day. Ph 6.0-6.1 ppm 350 in this stage. The coco will also suck your calmag away. I always add calmag till the last 2 weeks.
Just what I do so take it for what it’s worth.

Ps… that’s a seed shell. Pick it off or leave it be. It won’t hurt anything.

Ok thanks for the replies and advice. I do understand that coco doesn't have nutrients but i was under the impression that my water (which is from a spring so its natural without any mains water chems in it) had enough nutrients in it for the first week. Tbh i would have preferred to go soil but i got the coco and nutrients for free so hey ho.

It sounds like a cocked up the first week anyway so hopefully i can bring them back from the brink.

Just to confirm youre saying i should water, with nurtrients, every day - and until there is run off? I'm guessing in coco that will not rot the roots ? Thanks for all the good info btw.

I wait to water every day till the roots fill the pot. I water when it gets about halfway dry in the beginning. Always use nutrients and always have runoff when you water. Calmag is important in coco too. When it comes to total ppm I start off about 350 and raise it as it goes through its stages. I top out at about 900 ppm….. but yes. Once it has a good root system then water at least once a day. Usually about 4 nodes for me.

A lot of people water 4/5 times a day right off the bat. It seems to go better for me to let the roots fill in. It also works out better for me to water once a day instead of the 4/5 times a day when they’re mature. Coco is more like hydro than soil.

Like I said. It’s what I do and I can only go by what works for me and what I do.

They're probably a little wonky from switching from the window to the tent too, not in a bad way but sometimes even little changes slow them down a bit. It's much more noticable when they're small like this.

The tops look healthy, that means there's lots of work going on underground that you can't see. Plants won't build many leaves until the roots have a firm foothold in the medium.

I discovered by accident recently that if you start your seeds in a clear solo cup placed inside a dark one, you can lift it up to check
on the roots and saturatIion level of the medium. It's nice to have that peace of mind if you're unsure how they're doing.

You’re doing fine for your first grow. The plants are a bit small because the light might be too far or too weak, try moving it closer or turning it up. The brown tip is likely light burn or a little nutrient burn, but it’s not serious if it doesn’t spread. Seedlings need only a weak nutrient mix, so use less than full strength. Also, don’t overwater, let the soil dry a bit between waterings. Your wife’s plants in the polytunnel are doing better because of natural sunlight and soil, but with these small changes, your plants will improve soon. Keep going!
