As most know already these genetics are unknown. Germinated in mid March. Dropped (oops) and not in the best sun. My plan was to generate seed if I had a male. And I do have one. Well he is opening up now (see pic) and the girl I am going to use him on is obviously in early flower.

So here is my newb question for today. When would you gather pollen from him and supply it to her based on the pics attached. Now, next week, two weeks??? Once that's done I am going to destroy him and hope I get more seeds to play with.

If your plants are close (like a mile or two) you’re playing with fire! When I make seeds I keep the males in small pots and move them into a (seldom used) shower stall with a light as soon as I see the pollen sacks swelling up. Then collect the pollen in a few weeks and then wait until the buds are a 3-4” in size (maybe August).

I just wonder if you’re pollinate a prematurely flowering plant and it goes into a reveg what will happen in terms of seed formation? If it is prematurely flowering, and it does go into a reveg. Keep some pollen around in case you get a chance to use it when it goes into a final flowering mode in August that is not a reveg. Just two cents!😁
Excellent point! I can definitely do that. Thanks.

I'm not really all too worried if the other ladies seed too. My intent on this grow is to make seeds. I grew up on double album seed/stem cleans and I still got wasted. But let me ask...if I mix what you said with what Oldchucky said then I can/should save the pollen now, then kill the male and then wait to see if they reveg or wait until the buds are bigger to pollenate...correct? I just don't want to miss the pollination window, is my main thought. Is that's even a thing.

If you’re looking for LOTS of seeds just let them both go ( probably have some pissed off neighbors if they’re growing too) 😂😂 if you’re just looking to pollinate a few buds I would cut off all the sacks other than the top bud and once that top bud looks like it about to bust cut it off stick it in a glass of water and collect pollen on foil or parchment paper and brush the buds you want seeded with a q tip or small paint brush. She’ll be ready for pollen when the pollen is ready
Thanks!

There’s no right or wrong way, i personally remove more than most people probably do, but in your picture here, I would definitely pinch off all of the small bud sites in the center, especially the bottom 1/3-1/2. They won’t amount to much anyway, except extra time in trim jail. However if you use it for oils, edibles, hash etc. you might want to not prune them.
Thank you.

Yes. Pollen degrades fairly quick, so collect your pollen and let it dry for a few days. I’ll just put it on paper, maybe in a small open cardboard box. Any moisture will ruin it, so pick out any plant material that gets mixed to ensure the pollen stays dry.

Package it into multiple containers. I’ll make small (couple inches) paper bindle. Or the small plastic seed vials. Put those into a sealed container with desiccants and/or rice or if using vial, inside vial. (Some growers mix flour with the pollen to keep it dry.) Then store in refrigerator or freezer. Freezer is better for long term, but for the short time you’re saving not a big deal.

Then when you want to use take out a single pack. Pulling it in/out of cooler isn’t a good idea, so that’s why it’s nice to have multiple packages. (And good in case one pack goes bad, you’re not completely fucked.) Let the pollen get to room temp and then apply to your flowers.

One male and three female plants all together, you’ll have lots of seeds. Don’t worry

Minnesota Grower here. Miiiiight have bitten off more than I can chew for my first outdoor grow.

3 on the left are kosher kush (around 5.5 ft tall) from DNA
3 on the right are Green Apple Candy (4 feet tall) from Atlas Seed Co.

Both still inveg and drinking about 2 gallons a day. General hydro nutes and Rinoskin silicone.

Looking at harvest, approx. when is your first frost?
BTW, your plants look super healthy. Good job.
Have you grown indoors?

Thanks!! We'll, almanac suggests flowering to begin late July. Which (by mistake) the kosher kush is full term so 90 days from there?

Yeah I have three grows indoors that are worth noting. But they've all been autos yielding about 4 ounces per plant. So nothing grand.

This is my first grow with photos and outdoors. So I'm super nervous and vigilant. I cry when a branch breaks in a storm. Lol.

In your case maybe it's a blessing when a branch breaks LOL just kiddin. Beautiful plants and i tell myself the same thing every fall after harvest " OK i'm not doing more than 4 next year" and i've got 7 going. I could'nt giveaway any clones and i could'nt destroy them so here i am.

Idk what size pot they are in but expect them to double if not triple in size it happens fast be proactive not reactive
Can’t have too much support bamboo pole tie wire zip ties you will need tons of support for those beautiful ladies you have good luck

Nice plants.

I’d be real nervous about the fabric pots on your wood deck. The fabric really traps moisture. Suggest you get some type of spacers under them before your deck boards start rotting.

Get a better dry back also, if you expose the bottom of the pot! A little more even!

They're in 15 gallon size root pouches. Yeah, trying to figure out what kind of support system. My wife suggests screwing in posts to the railing in the deck and putting up netting.
