So, I placed a few regular plants outside this spring. The ones that didn’t get eaten by bugs have all turned out to be male.

It seems like pests definitely prefer female plants. Even in early veg.

Is this news or?

Seems like an interesting way to determine what’s what early on, but haven’t heard anyone say this before 🤷‍♂️ thought I’d mention it.

Seriously doubting it, based on one trial. Now if you planted 100 and 50 got eaten and the other 50!were male, and you could repeat it and get the same results, then you’d have something.

I’m going to repeat this for a few years til I have a bigger sample size. I think there’s something to it. But right now, 3 fems and 3 males side by side, fems are ravaged, males are untouched. Seems more than coincidental.

I’d do 100 at once but I don’t wanna go to jail for an experiment 😝

I hear ya. I’m an outdoor guy. I’ve never noticed this. Then again, I’m not ever planting males unless we are cross breeding.
FYI I wouldn’t waste your time with the theory. Just grow females and treat them organically for bugs.
Best of luck!

I've never noticed that, and grew regulars for years (before feminized seeds). Statistically, it means nothing, the sample size is too small. That's like saying I flipped a coin three times with my right hand and it was heads every time, then I flipped a coin three times with my left hand and came up tails each time, so that must mean that if you flip a coin with you right hand it will be heads, and if you flip a coin with you left hand it will be tails.
