Decided to start bending three of them and see how they react! Would have preferred waiting another week, but you never know till you try! See how they react to having the bottoms of their leaves, exposed to the sun! Hopefully look happier this evening or tomorrow morning!View attachment 2482210
Yeah, 94° is like 110 around here! I don’t blame you! Just have to use your ingenuity and take it easy and don’t uproot them. A little at a time if you have to! The Mazar’s of yours were pushing 6 feet and I didn’t wanna wait much longer! We’ll have to extend the bamboo a foot or two somehow as it is! Probably opening up a whole new can of worms doing it this early but like everything else will deal with the outcome! Plunge head first into the abyss! My extras are about 7' tall, so I"m gonna try and bend them. But I have to figure a different system than yours 'cause the dirt around here is rock city. (gravel pit a mile down the road)
I tried to pound a 1" x 5' stake into the dirt to tie to and it wouldn't go in, 4 different spots. Had to use a cheapo 1/2" tomato stake instead. I guess the smaller diameter will worm it's way between the rocks. Geesch.
But, I'm not doing it 'till this hot air moves out. Today 94, tomorrow 82.
Amazing how they right themselves so fast !All the leaves had righted themselves by evening! Brother and I dropping his 11 month old golden doodle off at the vet this morning to get the deed done!View attachment 2482732
Especially when they are getting their little asses sunburnt! I haven’t done this with full sativa’s yet! Don’t know how they will take to it!Amazing how they right themselves so fast !
I think they should be fine. I haven’t bent one either I’ve only grown 2 sativasEspecially when they are getting their little asses sunburnt! I haven’t done this with full sativa’s yet! Don’t know how they will take to it!
It’s the same here C hot and windy yuck. I managed to get the white skirts on my photos yesterday today’s chore is getting stakes in and tying them at 3 points. At least the skeeters won’t be out!My extras are about 7' tall, so I"m gonna try and bend them. But I have to figure a different system than yours 'cause the dirt around here is rock city. Hey Oldchucky.....
I love your area!!! Plants healthy as usual!! Thank You for your videos!!!
You said you tie um/ bend um down for height purposes.....
Do you find any other, reasons that would be beneficial for plants......
I'm thinking of doing a side-by-side, ish cause of the![]()

Sorry it took so long, Bilber! I think Bent plants are a lot easier to take care of! And require less support! Everything is growing vertically and becomes more stalk like. So you wind up with a bunch of two or 3 foot stalks with a fat cola on the end, pointing up! And at chest height for ease of inspection, maintenance, and even partial harvesting! The only way you will really know because all climates are different and I’m not growing in the ground is to get a 10 foot piece of bamboo and ram it into the ground at a 45° angle and start tying them off! As long as you don’t uproot or break the stalk the plant is going to grow and produce! You’re just taking a different tack getting it to the finish line! You may love it! You may hate it. But you have to grow one like that to find out! And from the looks of those now is as good as time as any!Hey Oldchucky.....

Right on man! But I think all of the gyrations that that you need to use to keep them alive is taking its toll on the growth! They should be sprinting now! But keep after it and maybe they will spurt before flower! You probably got at least another three weeks! And it’s been cool up here so maybe you have been cooler than normal also!My outdoor gals are still hanging in there. I wrapped a towel around the bucket with the perceived notion that when the mister sprays it'll stay cool longer while it dries. The wrap may be a little shakey, I'll see how long it lasts.View attachment 2483141View attachment 2483143View attachment 2483142
It's been a serious struggle but I'll take what I can get with these, It's become my retirement hobby so I'm learning. Absorbing a lot from you, the forums and other sources. Looking forward to the next go 'round already, things are gonna be a lot different.Right on man!
