So anyways with Cap' having his race car thought I would tell an old story from my teaching days.
Me and a very old friend both had race vehicles. Mine was usually a bike but he ran a really nice 1970 B body with a 440 wedge.
He had a group of students that he used as a pit crew. He had just had the students push the vehicle through tech check and back to the trailer when a student noticed a water leak. Slight at the thermostat housing but it sure was not going to get better.
So he gets a tube of ceramic sealer for the cooling system. He has to go back to tech to splain why he now needs to be further back in the line to fix this and rerun tech. He explains to the students that he wants them to open the radiator cap and run while to get flow past the radiator cap hole. Then work the throttle until it's about 1/4 open and dump the sealer in.
So he is waiting in line and he hears the car start. It's running for a bit and he keeps listening. Soon he hears the rpm tac up and the some kind of struggling noise and then nothing. Now what.

Well the student was given unclear advice. The last instruction was to up the throttle to 1/4 and dump the sealer in.
He dumped it down the throat of the carb.

The block was scrap as the rings had welded to the cylinder walls. The crank was bent due to going from 4000 rpm to zero in 2 revolutions. Rest of the motor was fine but man a fugin wedge motor side oiler ball of torque died from a lack of communication.

This is why I always keep a spare Pontiac 400 and a brand new crank in the box (I only have a spare crank right now because it took so fucking long for Eagle performance to get me the one that I wanted and that I needed at the time so I just went ahead and got both of them that they had) i spun bearings, not too long ago
With my little engine that could the little Pontiac 400 it’s built in a way that once you stab it and you put your foot on the mat you better keep that motherfucker there until your run is over and then you just lift and coast it all the way to your turnaround through the shut down you’re not supposed to pedal it at all and when it launched it chattered the tire so bad man it knocked every fucking filling I had out of my teeth had to replace a couple connecting rods, bearings and two broken rockers it was gnarly and it had a yard sale,
She’s been pickled since then, but I did get the motor freshened a new crank put in it some new connecting connecting rods I had spare rockers. I got the Pistons Mic’d in new sleeves and just been finding dumb shit ive been needing to do, shes an old gal at 55 shes going through menopause and dont like fucking with no one right now
Your buddies old busted up wedge block would’ve been a really cool shop table

My Oldschool b & m ratchet shifter is the fucking bomb though dude I love that thing. I’ve got the line lock on the top of it and then I’ve got to the two step at the trigger position. I set the stall at 4800 rpm maybe five k if its chilly. And boy. At 2600 lbs with me in it. She leaves like a fucking banshee.
You pull the shifter up, click
Then pull it towards you amd drop it, click its now in ratchet mode
Then you line up. Pull that 2 step trigger. Mat it. And let it go on the yellow bulb right before the green. Its pre timed for a comp tree. As long as you get on the yellow bulb on time. Reaction is killer and its almost certainly curtains for whoever.

I have to admit the only reason I rode bikes was by 1986 there were some beast mode 10.5 second off the shelf bikes with top speeds of 155 mph for way less than I could have built a car. First race to work and track bike was a Honda 1000r for 6k new. Also I did not live to race I was more of a street guy who pounded his shit on country roads hoping this turn up here is not full of gravel.......

See but that’s fucking awesome though I’ve got to say probably five or six times a day I think about converting that car to a street car you know just put a bigger fuel cell in it where the rear seat should be putting lights in it. Make sure that I can have turn signals And unbott the passenger door so it operates. Remove the rest of the lexann windows.
And just go drag the fuck out of all the mopars that I can find
I have taken it to the Philadelphia Street races one time it was a long time ago and a couple of 18 wheelers drove into deleware ave that was being operated by the police and they blocked either side of the street and I got a ticket and a fucking goddamn reaming from the cops that you wouldn’t believe I’m very lucky that they didn’t impound my car Only reason they didn’t is because it wasn’t my hit or my race that they pulled in on I was in line though.
Seriously, I think about it all the time dude because it is hotter than fuck in that car when I’m sitting in the staging lanes at the track that’s why I’m not gonna run it in the summer. I’m gonna stop that shit and do a lot more off-season racing and gambling.

And the windows are Lexanne except for the windshield, which is now actually a fucking way overpriced original 1970 Trans Am windshield that I found after my Lexanne windshield exploded when I hit a bird in the middle of a run

4 years ago. I'll try to keep it less than a novel.
My Suzanne had been weirdly connected to me since about 16 when she saw Just A Peace, a band I'd founded but at the time was just out of. It was her first ever "I'm a fan of this band I can meet often" and she was dating my friend when we actually first met. That night she just kinda laid it out that she wanted to stay with me instead, which I promptly reported to my friend on the DL and advised him that she was a whore, figuratively. So she left with a facebook invite and we talked once a month or so for 6 years.
She was out of touch for a while and I had learned that her pain pills for an injury and surgery turned into pain shots of heroin, so she had been in rehab and while there had found out she was pregnant.
I was extremely drunk in my defense.
I offered her a move-in family special: I would work and be dad and all of it and she'd never have to worry and it was all flowers and romance for a year and a month and then she relapsed over post partum turned bored housewife. I figured this out by 3am atm withdrawls and at the time I was drunk asleep exactly at 10pm till 5am daily. The drinking was at least kinda normal then. This happened twice and I sent her to rehab and told her she can have her ring back when she's clean for a year. So fiance but the baby had my last name, we lied and said I was the dad to the state, and had a wedding planned and booked.
70 days into rehab she walked out, bought dope, tried to confess and go back... they put her in a motel room alone and she overdosed.
It does not end here.
I'll preface this and say my normal response to anything spiritual or what might be on the discovery channel in such a way is that the witnesses are clearly retarded and should be drugged involuntarily. Suzanne haunted me because we talked about it. We lived in the crook of a big L shaped cemetery and "what if" came up randomly and we traded promises that the first one who passes contacts the other and not in some puzzle suggestion way. I said basically make the walls bleed in front of witnesses:
Suzanne sent me the plagues because she knew I'd connect it to history. First ants, then mites, then ladybugs, then stinkbugs, then flies, then crickets. In my apartment. Coming from nowhere, milling about confused. No wave overlapped, there wasn't a cause or a food source. Then I hit 10 birds with my car, I know because for the hell of it I counted on the road. Then a hole about 5 foot wide and 30 foot deep, for no reason, appeared in front of my door. Then my keyboard blew every single key into the ceiling hard enough to dent it. Then both my cats died of asymptomatic bladder infections two weeks apart with no common cause. PLENTY of other people saw this shit.
Then her mom, dad, and sister all died weeks and months apart.
Then I drank myself into rehab but only after I was permanently injured going from goddamn olympic shape to "can walk several yards at a time" and had to medically retire and sue the worker's comp board. And social security.
I sell wood art and beef jerky to cover the bags of weed between my almost competent growing.
Most people would have been really upset and broken and I have decided I will not be. There are cracks in the mirror but it's still reflective. I have "my" Genevive and if it wasn't for me not giving up she would be in foster care and molested.
The natural state of the human condition is tragic but luckily I am polish and we got used to it over the centuries.
