Pig stories I am in.
Our Family in the 70's was 4 kids and 2 adults. If you wanna have meat on a factory workers salary you buy sides of beef and a whole hog. With the hog the only thing not used was the kidneys as that just resulted in the house smelling like piss and a pizza run to little Caesars.
Mom always made spaghetti with the head. The skull was in 2 pieces and no brain. She would boil it and strip it down and put the meat in the red sauce.
So fast forward to 1992. Bike party in Holland Ohio but that's redundant in the 1990s I borrowed a Sportster cause it's not the kind of party where you take a rice. I did not know the group but my brother vouched. So let's go.
We got there late and the party was in full swing. I set up a little area with chairs and my brother goes to the food line. Came back and said " pig is gone ". Awww man. Then he looks at me and says. They cooked the skull but no one has touched it.
Well let's just go touch that thing.
FYI the cheeks of a pig is the same as the money muscle in the shoulder. It's the size of a pork chop and the surrounding face is dark meat that has pretty much stewed in rendered pork fat for 18 hours.

So we dig the head out of the ashes and of course sacrifice a beer ticket to the pig god and rinsed it down.

Then imagine 2 big fuckin dudes hunched over a pig head ripping strips off with a punch dagger and shoving into ham hole. This was way before TWD so it brought looks and laughs aplenty.

One of the group that set this up dropped a roll of drink tickets on the pigs head and walked off laughing.
Good times.
I love that cheek meet!. My pipe crew was mostly Mexican. Carlos, my lead pipe layer was actually Honduran, but married to a Mexican American girl, who was a bomb-ass Mexican cook. They would do a pig a month at their casa. They boiled them (just chunked up parts, butchered on a sheet of plywood) in lard and coke cola. The heads were used for the best tamales you can ever imagine. Carlos and Gracie gave me an authentic Mexican, 10 gal, hand hammered copper kettle and burner/stand, that Gracie's father made; for X-mas one yr... Was pretty cool, ironically lost in a fire...🔥😖😢

I got pong and later punt/pass/kick in the handheld. That game pretty sure set my up for carpal tunnel. The pain stopped when I started doing heavy line and was using the muscles all day every day.
I use to have a pretty bad case of carpal tunnel, I was a mechanic for fifteen years. I wasn’t convinced that it was caused by the work I was doing but attributed it more to being a side sleeper and sleeping on my hands and forearms. I haven’t worked in a garage for almost ten years now, and still sleep on my side though. I don’t notice any symptoms anymore unless I continually hold my phone in certain positions for extended periods of time. For the last eight years I’ve been working in a warehouse and delivering cabinets and flooring (lots of heavy lifting) I wonder now if it was being caused by air impact tools?? Or maybe it was all the excessive masterbation?? 🤣

Air tools... for sure. I used to use a 60lb hammer on the low end and after cutting 4 foot or so, one hand had to pry the other open. Yeah I bet that has effects.

Woods USA Brother! Allegheny Co. My big bro is still there and 100% hillbilly. I can barely understand him when talking to him. 🤜🤔🤣🤣🤣

I totally know that feeling of one hand having to open the other. Dead man’s grip.
I have carpel tunnel and trigger finger in my middle fingers and thumbs.
Prolly caused by carrying all them 6 packs of PBR & Genesee Cream Ale;
Strohs when we was splurging! lmao 🍻😋🤔🤣🤣🤣

Smokey Tales, part ll

I've met and talked with smokey right at his docks while installing "Danger Cable Crossing" signs in the inter-coastal waterway. There used to be an urban legend that he invented or modified a carburetor that drove a car from daytona to buffalo t or f?

ChatGPT said:

That’s true — but with a Smokey Yunick twist.
The “urban legend” is based on a real episode in the late 1970s, when Smokey unveiled his “hot vapor engine” project.

The Story

  • Smokey re-engineered a Pontiac Fiero (some say it was a Chevette mule) with a radically modified carburetor and intake system.
  • His design super-heated the fuel/air mixture into a vapor before it entered the cylinders, improving atomization and combustion efficiency.
  • He claimed 50 mpg on a 350 c.i. V8 with full performance — which, if true, was staggering at the time.

The Legend

  • The most famous tale: Smokey drove this prototype car from Daytona Beach to Detroit (or Buffalo, depending on the telling) on a single tank of gas, averaging north of 40–50 mpg.
  • He even said the car would get ~100 mpg in ideal conditions.
  • Detroit automakers were intrigued but wary; some suggest they quietly shelved it because it threatened the status quo.

What’s True / What’s Exaggerated

  • ✅ Smokey did build and test a vapor-carbureted prototype that achieved remarkable fuel economy.
  • ✅ He drove it long-distance to prove the point (exact endpoints vary in retellings).
  • ❌ It wasn’t just “a carb trick” — it was a whole system (intake, heat exchangers, exhaust routing).
  • ❌ The auto industry didn’t adopt it widely, but not because it was fake — more because of emissions, drivability, and manufacturing hurdles.

So yes, the “Daytona to Buffalo on a tank” legend is rooted in truth — it was Smokey’s vapor carb/engine demo. Like much of his work, it blurred the line between outlaw genius and tall tale.
⚡ Want me to dig up the original Popular Science / SAE write-ups on Smokey’s hot vapor engine? They make wild reading and separate fact from lore.

I wake up on a Saturday morning usually and get the coffee brewing, feed the pets and start cleaning up the house. I am inundated by cat hair at the moment and have a big job at hand this morning, but I need some fuel for the machine so bacon and eggs with wheat toast should do the trick. Ohh yeah and I catch up on the trainwreck before I start my chores. Then I shall smoke. But on a weekday I smoke a huge joint on the way to work everyday. View attachment 2500927

I got a tip if you have a family member who can not have white potatoes your recipe will loose nothing substituting sweet potatoes.
I hate sweet potatoes due to the texture but fried with peppers and onions it is very good.

If you ask me there is one historical group of workers in the USA that should have been striken with Carpal Tunnel.
Typist. If it was repetitive motion alone you never would have seen a 15 year old typist. That did not start until the invention of the keyboard.
It seems that a typist who actually did some manual labor as they moved keys and shift bars and return strokes built up enough muscles and did enough work that the repeat nature had much less off a health effect.
.keyboards where speed require a light touch pretty much uses fast twitch finger movements with little strength needed.
I got better moving stuff all day with my hands.

Yep I use bacon and garlic and onions with it 😁

My kids aren’t real picky but they’ll eat a lot of whatever we make haha

One of the first clues you need to not ride a motorcycle right there.
2016 for me.
This happens when I use a hammer for extended periods of time. I never really worked in construction or carpentry due to a crippling fear of heights, which fucking sucks to say the least. My brain loses its ability to control my legs and arms, vertigo kicks in and I move at a snail’s pace. But oddly enough I am able to use climbing treestands for some reason. I do use a fall harness though, so maybe I’m just scared shitless of falling. I also have titanium rods holding my pelvis together from a workplace accident when I was 19, so any significant fall would probably leave me paralyzed. But anyways my hand cramps up after a while of swinging a hammer , that’s when Ive experienced the death grip, probably just poor form or lack of experience swinging a hammer.

I never looked for high places to go I was always looking for places to get high. BUT
Put me in a secure 4 point with a competent belayer and I got no problem trying a long run of stairs or something.

I’m h and I haven’t been posting much with work and all but Frostette is damn near ready to flip 🤪

About to lift the jet and regular ten and reposition then let her turn up and flip her

Maybe 3 days and off she goes
