Any way to figure out what my end yield will be roughly?

Hey guys. I’m doing a bit more advanced outdoor set up this year with my photoperiods.
They got bigger than I usually let them get. I tie them down a lot through my grow to let in light and get more out of smaller statured plants.

My concern now is how much will I end up with?
Flower is early stages and different for each plant. We’re still at 13:20 minutes of day length. I will be able to tell more later in flower but wondering if I could easily hit 16 ounces with that I currently have.

How do y’all guess before you have bigger buds what the end result is going to be?

How do y’all guess before you have bigger buds what the end result is going to be?

You can get a general estimate based on the number of branches at canopy height and the node spacing, but by "general" I mean it will be a huge range. Each branch could net between 1/8oz to 1oz (even more for outdoor plants), wet weight, then curing will lose around 75% of that weight.

For example, one of my current plants has about 20 branches with bud sites that made it to canopy height. I can estimate the low end by dividing that by 8 for wet weight (2.5oz) and then dividing that by 4 for dry weight (0.625oz or 5 eighths). Then estimate the high end (within reason as I don't expect any of my branches to yield 1oz) by multiplying our low end estimation by 2 or 4. So my plant will yield between 1/2oz and 2oz of cured bud. Node spacing on this specific plant is pretty tight, so I'd lean more toward the higher estimate.

Once again, this is just an estimate as anything along the way can affect your total harvest. Your buds can double in size over the course of a week or you can run into an issue that stunts their growth. Bud density is also a huge factor that you can't really judge without squeezing the buds.

Quick estimation using the per branch technique on the 1st image:
Plant takes up roughly 75% of the photo. Split into quadrants, the lower-right corner has roughly 13 bud sites with direct light.
13 x 4 = 52 x 0.75 = 39, round that to 40.
Only see 1 angle of the plant and will assume that to be roughly 1/3 of the total plant.
40 x 3 = 120 branches used for weight estimation.
Outdoor plants can yield more than 1oz wet weight per branch, but it is a good average to use for estimates.
120 / 4 = 30oz dry weight.

That’s awesome! We can’t let ours get that big here.
Some asshole would steal them or someone would nark.

That’s what I want to do here. You just can’t let them “fly like a peacock” around here.

Mine are more like wide spread indoor plants but outside. Low profile but they still stink the place up in late flower especially.

I’m no photographer so hope these can give you an idea what I’m working with. My girls are in different stages of early-preflower.

Pots are 5 gallon AC Infinity fabric. Potting mix is 1/4 peat, 1/4 coco, 1/4 composted alfalfa horse manure, 1/4 perlite.
Feeding mega crop, budcharge 50/32, Sea-K, & some Sweet Candy. Add ion-14 about once every 1-2 weeks.
Water once every 1-2 days now. They dry out quick.

Plants were tied back more yesterday and defoliated some to let them breath. We have really high humidity here and heat is brutal. We also had some septoria leaf spot show up a couple weeks ago and that’s been alleviated with neem/CS sprays rotated once a week.

@RoadKillSkunkHunt any thoughts on what I may end up with? You’re in a greenhouse but that’s outdoor to me. We’re at 13:15 for hours of daylight today.

Each of those plants look to be about the same size as my largest. You still have flowering stretch time though, so they will get even bigger.

I can make a better guess once their stretch is done, but as of now I'd estimate at least 3oz dry weight for each plant. Assuming no major issues between now and harvest. I always try to estimate on the lower end so that when the results come in it is a pleasant surprise when you actually have more.

Hard to pin down early on, man. I usually just look at how stacked the sites are and how much light is actually hitting them once stretch slows down. If the canopy’s even and you’ve kept good airflow, you can get a rough feel if it’s gonna be close to a pound, but honestly I don’t really trust my guesses until about halfway into flower when the buds start bulking.
