Good morning folks.
Amateur hobbyist here looking for any input
Been growing about 18 months
Some ok grows some disasters I think I’m ok on the nutrition front maybe
If running at let’s say the high end everything being equal light c02 humidity heat etc
What increases in nutrients are people using ie macro/micro
I’m not looking for any negative comments about the grow itself, this is a personal experiment trying to minimise energy costs
I’m actually struggling to control heat due to the light
Running at 31temp
55rh
PPFD approx 1000
C02 average 950-1000
Fan runs consistently and extraction kicks in at 33 or 60rh
I’ve used Evoponic ice since my second grow as I had huge problems in the first grow and it’s made locally to me.
1 mum royal runtz flipped at 8 weeks (11 days ago)
Managed 6 clones from 7 taken ,let root straight to flower
So other than 1 they were all flipped 11 days ago.
Your thoughts advice would be much appreciated
Just to say this is my first time using c02 in a complete sealed system other than top extraction and it Stays consistent I will update on final c02 usage and cost not sure it’s worth it to be honest but time will tell

Probes need to be covered not u der the lights, it's the wrong place you don't want to read the light which heats up the probe and screws it's reading for temp and rh.

Just want to measure the air with zero light reaching them, outside the weather service covers all stuff like this otherwise your not just reading the air but the air and light, big difference and hope this info helps you out getting better measurements.

Light doesn't heat air directly it will anything in its path, how light gets from sun to earth's surface and re radiates to heat the air why it's cold not hot high up.

Placement away from light but in a super reflective small box with uneven air flow there's not really a set place, you should play around and with extraction bringing in more air than a small wattage light can heat it should match and track the outside air closely or within a couple degrees imo.

A better answer would be ditch them both and put them outside in the room you draw air from. A few hundred watts of light is a very inefficient heater in the first place.

The sun doesn't sit 12 inches above outdoor plants, haha. If you want to get really scientific, you can measure leaf temperature instead. The light heating the probe is also heating the leaves.

@Iwishiknew Keep your sensor at canopy height, this is standard indoor growing practice. To get better readings you will want multiple sensors to measure at multiple heights. Personally I get temp/RH readings from below canopy and at canopy height. Getting readings at multiple heights helps you determine if your airflow is adequate.

You mention dealing with heat issues, but your extraction is humidity controlled. I recommend running extraction 24/7 so your temperature stays around the same temp as your lung room. Humidity is way easier to control in a tent setup than temperature. Especially low humidity. High humidity is the issue. If your humidity is swinging from 33 to 60 then you are on the golden range for indoor growing.

Don't worry about co2. Indoor tent grows only need you breathing nearby. Your heat issue is way more important.

I’m not overly concerned about the temp just yet, the outside temps have dropped the last couple of days and has come down with it, I’m thinking I probably will sack off the c02 it’s just not efficient I don’t think.
Keep it for the fish tanks

How you get the temperature reading is not as important as the consistency. Also, where in a tent grow can you place a sensor at canopy level yet not in light? If you have a dark spot at canopy level, you are not growing correctly.

The reason consistency is more important is because nearly all of us are not even using properly calibrated tools. We buy cheap crap off amazon. As a grower the main thing to monitor are the fluctuations and how those changes are affecting the plants. If my sensor, no matter where I place it, is suddenly reading higher temps than it normally does and my plants now have clawing leaves, I can make a proper diagnosis.

Now, why do I place the sensor at the canopy? Well, the first leaves that will be showing signs of heat or light stress are going to be the canopy leaves. Therefore, I want to monitor fluctuations in temperature at the canopy.

I assume you are experienced growers I haven’t looked at profiles in which case I’m pretty sure you can grow good bud so what is everyone chasing ? what makes one better than another,
Genuine question I’ve smoked on and off for years but it’s only after giving up drinking and becoming a chronic user I can tell good from bad some I’ve had smells good enough to eat but smokes like shit

Chased everything already did years of the science and now the industry is catching up luckily a lot of that info is now online and used by many grow companies.

Bro scientists probably disagree with me lots. The air should be moving through your canopy at around 1.0m/s so no chance to ever heat up and unless your burning 3000w in a meter squared box it's actually quite hard to heat say 240cfm of air a minute past it's ambient temperature.

Soil grower, gets really boring spend more time looking at them than doing anything, gets so simple you miss the days you were a bro scientists unfortunately.

I'm also a UK grower, feel if kept small zero punishment just fine slap on the wrist at best. Last time I heard the police said they aren't looking for small time growers or smokers but big grows and dealers, if we simply keep it hidden they won't bother us.

Could be legal eventually but I'm guessing years away and I do much better in an illegal market than legal so cannot support legalisation which isn't true freedom as tax limits etc etc still can't go plant a forest outdoors of the stuff.
