I live in Ohio. Both of my tents are full right now but should be free in about a month. We onlyhave about another month of sunshine here in Ohio before it turns to shit. I want to get a jump on my next grow. Can I start some seeds outside for the next month then move them inside to the tent once it is free? I plan on vegging the next one for a few months with LST so I'm in no hurry to flip.

The only problem is the outdoor lighting. Outdoors are now entering flowering, including all of Ohio. While a new plant will still go through about 4 weeks of veg no matter the lighting schedule, you may still be triggering flowering before you bring it inside.

With that said, of course you can still do it. You can definitely make a plant reveg if necessary, but the stress may create a hermaphrodite.

If possible, supplemental lighting on it while outdoors will prevent it from ever entering flowering.

Pretty much what I'm thinking. The day lengths right now are short enough to trigger flowering outside but a young plant should be okay for that first month of growth until they hit sexual maturity. To play it safe, around the third week if you could start bringing them in for a couple extra hours of light at night it should keep the hormones in check and prepare them for the transition indoors. Just beware that there be bugs on that plant even if you don't see them.

Wow that's a really good point about the light in Ohio going into flower. Never thought about that.

Thank you. Really good advice. Never thought about the shorter days was just thinking "light"

Also man be super careful about your soil just because it’s the end of the summer doesn’t mean that there still isn’t gonna be stowaways that might possibly populate that soil before you have a chance to find out that there’s any critters in there you could end up with an infestation in your tent from starting outside, so I would be Leary.
Ohio or nohio switching from indoors to out or vice versa never really great

So you can start seeds and some pretty simple stuff what I would do is I would jump on and take a look at a seed starting rig that has a light build into the lid now I’m not saying to use that lid or that item I’m saying you may want to get an idea of what you need to look for you might have the stuff laying around your house and you could set up a down and dirty nursery outside of your tent and still get the job done you can use cardboard man and build yourself a box for it they don’t need a lot of space And as far as the lighting goes, it’s pretty minuscule what’s needed in order to drive a seedling to the surface.

Honestly this makes the most sense. If you have even 1 sqft of space available anywhere you can easily get away with 1 month of growth under basically any light. Basic 60w equivalent LED bulb could get you through 1 month. Germination alone can take up a whole week so you really only need to last 3 weeks of veg.

Edit: Worst case scenario it grows too lanky with a weak light and you top it a few times to shorten it and slow its growth.

Also. if you get yourself a bit of a lanky seedling yeah it’s kind of a bitch or whatever but at the end of the day whenever you transplant it up into a solo cup If you start the seed starter, for example you can just bury the stalk up to the height you want the plant to be when you do the transplant. Reason being is because on a seedling the stem hasn’t hardened off in any way at all yet so it’s still pliable and it’ll root like any other part of a plant as long as you get it under soil.

If you start outside, then move indoors you miget bring unchecked bugs into your house. I would start them in a window brother, keep the kitchen light on. I wouldn't risk it.
