Hi farmers, I've been lurking on this website for a while and thought that I would make myself a grow-diary. I have a few grows under my belt, but I am by no means a master grower. It's a hobby to me, I enjoy watching them plants grow and enjoy learning more about growing in general. Anyways, the strain is OG kush feminized. I got 8 seeds, but I'm just gonna grow 4 of them for now. I guess now is a good time to list what equipment I'm gonna use.

I have two tents. Dimensions are 70*70*160 and 120*120*200 in centimeters. I have LED lights from Mars hydro, in the small tent I have a ts-600(100w) and in the big tent I have a ts-3000(420w). For ventilation I have an inline fan also from Mars hydro with a controller and a carbon filter. I like that I can adjust the speed of the fan, it has 10 speeds so that is awesome. However, it sucks as an automatic on/off switch. It is suppose to be able to turn on at a set temperature or humidity level, which it can do, but since there is no lower limit set point it ends up just switching on and off constantly. Not too happy about that!

I made an attempt to soundproof the ventilation system as you can see on the image bellow. Unfortunately, it was a bit of a failure. A lot of noise escapes out through the carbon filter, so the box doesn't really do much. I'm thinking maybe I should try and get one of those mufflers and attach that in between the filter and the fan. Maybe that will help!? On the backside of the box the vent splits into two vents so I can suck air from both tents using the same fan. I might have to make some adjustments to this setup at some point because I want to keep it as silent as possible since I sleep in the same room, but it works for now.

I also have two circulation fans, one in each tent and two thermometers/hygrometers and that's about it. Pretty basic setup, but I'm a simple man and I like simple things. :) Oh yeah I also have a humidifier, but I don't really use it, I should have bought a dehumidifier instead.

I use soil as grow medium. It's from BioBizz and it's the light-mix. It holds very little nutrients and I don't mix it with anything else besides the biobizz nutrients I use when watering. I use the BioGrow, BioBloom, TopMax and Root Juice and I just tend to follow the feeding schedule provided by BioBizz except I use a bit less than recommended. I got pots that are 2L, 11L and 25L. For this grow I'm gonna soak the seeds in water for 12-24 hours and then plant them directly into the 2L pots. I used to do the wet towel and plastic bag method, but I don't really see any reason to take the risk of damaging the sprouts when transplanting them into the soil. It is just as fast to just stick them into the dirt right away and just let them do their thing. When they reach a propper size I'm gonna transplant the plants from 2L and into the 25L because the 11L are already in use.

As far as training goes, I'm gonna do the mainline method. This will be the second time I use this method and I have a few ideas I wanna try out. You will see when we get to that stage.

Of course I also have a ph-meter so I can adjust my water. Tap water here is terrible so gotta stay on top of that.

Think that's about it, now lets get these girls started!

These seeds are awesome! After less than 20 hours 3 out of 4 has cracked open. Usually I don't see them seeds crack open while still in the water, but these girl they want to grow!

I planted all 4 seeds directly into the 2L pots as planned, not much else to say. :)

Out of the four seeds that I tried to germinate only three succeeded, so I had to germinate another one. That has left a small gap between them of about four days. Besides that, nothing much is going on. It's the early stage, so you don't really need to do anything besides being patient.

Here is a couple pics. 🙂

Everything is moving along quite nicely!

It's been a couple of very hot days and temperature has reached 30 degrees celsius at some points, but the plants seem to be fine. The smallest plant seem to be having some issues though. When she germinated I had to cover her with some dirt. I guess I didn't sow the seed deep enough because I found the sprout above soil with the root growing horizontally. I just covered it up and allowed it to do its thing. Now the plant seems to have some difficulty standing up straight. I guess I will add some more soil to the pot as a support and hopefully this won't be causing any problems. Besides that she seems to be healthy enough.

I'm not using any fertilizer yet. I guess I will wait another week with that, unless they start to show signs that they need it.

Welcome to the thread @Galgrows and @Greenadian

Thank you for the kind words. 🙂

I'm not sure when I will transplant, I never did grow in 2L/0.5gal pots before. I usually use some tiny pots to start the seeds in and then transplant them into 11L/3gal pots. For this grow I will transplant from these 2L/0.5gal pots into 25L/6.6gal pots. I suppose I will try and do the manifold/mainline with 8 mains before transplant, but of course if the plants start showing signs of being root bound I will transplant earlier.

Everything is going very well, they are growing like crazy!

It wont be long until I will begin the process of making the manifold/mainline. I'm not quite sure how I want to document this... Hmmm... I think I might just do the trimming and pruning during the week and then post a video compilation of it in about a week. Yeah, that is what I will do.

I gave them the first feeding 2 days ago and another one today. I gave them root juice and biogrow at half strenght. However, the small plant only got root juice, no biogrow yet.

I made some changes to the ventilation setup. As I mentioned in the first post, I had one inline fan sucking air from two tents. This didn't work because it was too loud and the filter didn't remove the smell from the flowering tent. Now the fan is only venting the flower tent, so I have to have the veg tent open all the time until I buy another fan. It is what it is I guess.

The edges of some of the leaves are reaching for the sky. I guess it's a sign of too much light or heat. I raised the light a bit. It is around 50cm/20inches above the plants now.

My OG Kush started slow, then tripled in size. They are around 8’ now and sturdy as f!
Best of luck

Mainlining has begun!

I started the mainline on the three big plants on 2025-07-30.

In case anyone is curious about mainlining, what it is and how to do it, then here is a link for a more thorough guide on it
-> https://www.growweedeasy.com/manifold

Everything went well! The first time I did this, I ended up breaking off one branch and almost another. I was very impressed at the plants ability to heal itself. One branch was literally only attached by a millimeter or two worth of material and still it managed to survive and grow into a beast. It's in the flowering tent right now growing fat buds! 😛

Fertilizer is still going on half strength.

After about three days they where back to growing, so I did the second topping. Also I began the mainline on little sister! To try and help her catch up, I topped her at the second node, rather than the third, since the branches at the second node was more developed.

I expect to do the final topping sometime around the next update, so that will be in a week. Then I will give them some time to recover and then I will transplant them into the 25L pots.

Mainline complete!

I have done all the topping required to make the 8 cola mainline. The two plants on the right is a bit further along than the the two plants on the left. Little sister has caught up a bit. I don't know if this is because that I topped her at the second node rather than the third or if this is because of genetics?! Either way, it's awesome!

Still going at half strength on nutrients.

I raised the light from about 50cm/20inches to about 65cm/26inches. I did this in an attempt to promote a bit of stretching. I would like a bit of distance from the manifold and the trellis(not sure if trellis is the right word for it?!) that i did not yet install. You will see what I mean when the time comes for that.

From hereon I will give the plants a few days to recover and then I will transplant them into the 25L pots.

I decided to go for 16 cola instead of 8 per plant, so I had to delay the transplant. I intend to transplant maybe sometime next weekend.

I bumped the nutrient level up to 75% since one of the plants, that's the one in the back right side, is very lime green and that is likely a sign of the plant lacking nitrogen.

I am watering almost daily, so I really want to transplant so I can give more water at a time, but I need to wait for the plants to recover after the final final topping. The two plants on the right is growing again, but the two plants on the left is behind by several days.

Supposedly the mainline technique is allowing the plant to grow more evenly, but looking at this plant ->

it does not appear to be growing very evenly. One side is far more developed than the other side. Not sure why that is?!?!?!

A slightly delayed update..

I did the transplant four days ago and they seem to be good.

Nutrients are going on 75%.

Light is 20inches/50cm above canopy.

I expect the flowering tent to be ready for these plants in maybe three weeks. until then I will just let them grow and do their thing, maybe do some defoliating along the way.

Ok, we might have a problem, the plants are growing too much!!!

I wont have room in the flowering tent until about three weeks from now, so I'm a little concerned that they will get too big. Especially since OG Kush apparently is notorious for tripling in size during the stretch. I guess this is a luxury problem hehe. 😉

I was expecting the plants to have reached somewhere around the upper ring on the trellis when it is time to flip, but they are almost already there!!!

I did some light pruning, just removing some of the bottom fan leaves, nothing too crazy.

Feeding is still going on 75%. water them about every 4 days. Giving them about 1.5L of water mixed with plant food. Seems to be sufficient for now.

Light distance is 14-16 inches from the canopy, I did not adjust it since last time I mentioned it in this thread. I don't need them to stretch more right now and they are not showing signs of light stress, so I don't see any reason to raise the light.

They look great!!! Seems like you are able to keep them fairly short 👍🏼 it wont affect them to trim them down a node or 2 about a week out of flowering..... Especially when really healthy!!

Thank you, I appreciate the compliment! 🤠

I guess I could trim them down a node or two if I really have to, but lets see how it goes. They will lose some height when I spread them out some more. Will have to wait till they get in the bigger tent to do that though. Patience is a growers virtue.

Another week has passed and the plants keep on growing like weed(s?). 🤠

Everything seems to be good! I see no signs of any deficiencies or bugs or anything undesirable. Plants continue to look good and healthy!

I did a bit of defoliating yesterday and just removed the lowest set of fan leaves on every branch.

I positioned the branches of each plant in such a way that there are 4 branches within the top ring and all the rest of the branches has been guided to grow outside of the ring. This should make it easier to spread them out when they move into flowering tent.

I try to maintain a distance of 16inches/40cm between the light and the top of the canopy.

I went five days between watering just to see if they would droop and to make sure that the roots aren't being too wet. I don't want to risk the roots starting to rot. after 5 days without water I did not see the plants droop, but when they did get water, there was quite a bit of runoff. So I think it's fair to assume that the soil was dry and perhaps a bit too dry. I will continue to feed at 75% nutrients and at 1.5L of water, but I will water a bit more frequently. Still getting used to these 25L pots, but so far all seems to be going well.

I will harvest my white widow this week and then hang them to dry in the flowering tent. So if all goes well then I will be able to flip these O.G. Kush in about two weeks.
