That's how I felt with that Mimosa! Spent 4 1/2 months growing the damn thing and 10 days smoking it. I considered selling my tent! lol

I've seen people say that there is so much work to hydro grows. And, yeah, there is a fair amount of work every couple weeks when it's time to change the water. But soil growing just has so much guesswork that it seems so much more complicated to me. A fair number of people on this forum spend their grows lurching from disaster to disaster. And it usually comes down to a debate over "is it too much of this, or too little of that."

That seems daunting to me.

On the other hand, I kind of would like to grow in soil a little. I think it would be fun to make small batches of compost customized for the seed type in order to boost the terpenes. If I grew in soil, that would be my focus, rather than just being obsessed with bigger and bigger plants as I do with hydro.

I was growing hydro and soil at the start. I stopped the hydro to focus on soil....I will go back after I tackle the soil.
Soil is a bit of a challenge....but hell you can Google anything. Also there is this forum that has alot of people who want to help. Check out Trainwrech....alot of knowledgeable people....they set me strait....with photos you control when it goes to flower....so if you fuck something up you have time to fix it....now don't keep the poor thing in veg for a year. 🤣😂😅🤣... but i have a buddy that held it for 5 months....

....and welcome to the farm.

I've decided that I'm not gonna die in NY! The plant I'm growing will be the last I do for a while. I can't really take bunches of weed on the road with me when I move next spring or summer. Maybe I will give soil a try when I get wherever I end up deciding to go. Or at least look into custom compost recipes.

Go somewhere hot ..😂 If I wasn't so settled here i would move down south...or out west...seeing some of the grows where its outside is amazing. I have a in ground plant here in Northeast Ohio that is truly amazing...4'x6'x6'. I could just imagine if this out west....it would be gigundous. Good luck to you in your move.

Rh has been fine but i still can't get the temp lower than this. 70F at most. Am I still fine now or what should I be expecting?

Mold needs moisture. If the plant is more moist than the outside air it gives up moisture. Moisture is deposited on tent walls and plants when the temp fluctuates and the air looses its ability to retain the moisture.
If your 70 degrees tent is not wildly bumping 10 degrees a day up and down I do not think you have anything to worry about.
If it goes from 70 to 60 during a temp transition I think you may have a problem

Opinion based on observations in my own tents

I will keep an eye on the temp for sure. I haven't gotten the temp under 70F but also never over 73F so that fluctuation isnt too bad. Rh does jump around a bit from 55 to 58 to 61 and back again but that'll be cause of me trying to get the temp right.
Hope it can reach the 7 day dry time at least.

Thanks man. I definitely want to go somewhere hot. Weed friendly, and cheap. With tons of hot women. Or easy. Either way. Suggestions welcome! lol

Personally, I have found that the humidity is more important than the actual 60F temp when drying in my tent. Temperature can be almost impossible to control. But my most recent plant hung in its tent for 18 days with humidity hovering near 60%, but with temps ranging from 80-100 due to ambient air temps. It didn't dry out too quickly, no "wet hay" smell, no mold.

For the record, for people with enough room, and a few hundred dollars to invest. Upright cigar humidors about the size of a refrigerator can be purchased. Then, both 60F temp, and 60% humidity can be dialed into the unit, and kind of leave drying on autopilot. I don't have the room, or I would have one.

If you really want to spend you could also invest in a dryaging fridge. That shit's on point. You could also repurpose a winecooler for storing curing jars. Imagine a drying/curing room looking like the start of a good restaurant 👌

In the meantime i'll just be here with my little tent, fighting nature with fans and wet towels.

So I've been trying both photos and af's during my first try growing. Specifically the af's are a bit of a challenge. Photos are popping of good and strong.

Got 3 going, if you got advice I'd be glad to hear it.
All in canna prof soil, 10L pots, water when dry. Using silic rock every feed, callmag about once a week, canna vega every other watering and since preflower stopped rhyzotonic completely. Ph always around 6.5, 700-900ppm every feed. Big ones dry up completely in 2 days. Small one takes about 4. All outdoor.

2fast2vast strain. Broke her bad at first LST but she recovered nicely. Flowering doesn't look too good tho when compared to the others?

Dutch Power strain. No problems besides the smell. Since flowering she started to smell a bit like piss but when you smell the actual tops, it's still that nice danky smell. Ammonia from rot paires with sharpness, but there's non of that. Checked for mold or anything but besides a caterpillar, nothing alarming.

So this sad Critical+ strain had the most stable stats of all of them, but for some reason stagnated and now starts throwing flowers. It all smells fine and just now started going again. Couldn't find anything wrong beside the occasional bug. I'll let her ride but i think, when seeing the rest, she's not gonna give any quality. (Ye there's bird shit, they're sharpshooters here)

I grew a Critical +2.0 auto last year ... She threw her flower really quick . But finished great. Was small but packed a punch ! She allowed me to test my drying skills before my photos were done .

Ye I recognize that shape 😂 I cut the Crit+ this morning. Tiny thing. Popped a tiny little flower off the plant while hanging it, so i put it away in a glass jar. The smell that comes from that jar is insane. Very very sour.

So the last outside auto, 2fast, got starting PM. It's not IN the buds yet. Cant quarantine, no room inside. Defoliated every white speck and increased airflow. This one got the good flowers and i already had to take of a lower nug.

She's got like a week or 2 left and i dont want to have to cut this one. I could harvest as soon as the others are done drying or use a baking soda spray?

There are hot women everywhere.... depends on your situation and likes. Colorado would be awesome, but there is no ocean. Southern Texas would be sweet...very hot and then you have the immigrant and drug cartel problems. Gulfport, Mississippi is the best kept secret for vacation but no recreational weed. If I was single....I would be in Panama.....hot, by the ocean, military base with medical facility nearby, cheap, great fishing with what I hear a very large US citizen population.

First done and jarred. Got to 8 days of drying. Took a good morning to trim but what's left is 23,5gr (about 20 without the main stems i guess) of danky power plant and 14gr of trim. Burns great, no harshness, but i also dont smoke pure so it's been 80%tabacco20%weed. Will be giving it a real taste later this week. For a partially stunted plant, i feel it turned out fine enough.

Now to get that jar somewhere it wont stink up the house.

22 got jarred, which is the last auto. Got about 50gr in total from 2 autos in soil. Dutch Power hits like a brick, very uplifting. It smells like a soured skunk sprayed the walls and instantly became a favorite and feared smoke by my 'testpanel'. After a week the taste is matching the smell as well.
The 22 will be left alone for a bit before smoking. Tasted like Thai straight after drying.

The stunted Critical+ eventually yielded 4.5gr. So I ground the entire plant up with the trim from the Dutch Power, made some banger cookies and knocked out a 200kg adult giant for half a day.

Never growing autos again. Sticking to photos. But it was fun.

I just bought 12 3 gallon fabpots to finish my seeds up. Yes autos are not my thing and with 12 seeds left and 12 being the max for plant count it fits. Most I have ever done at one time is 4 plants so this should be fun.
Then for quick turn I am looking at the 12-12 from seed idea. A nice little history shows some good photos that can finish pretty quick and deliver.

When I checked the roots after cutting i noticed the roots didnt really grow through the top half. At the bottom it did and the roots were growing upwards right to around the middle of the soil so guess i stunted it at the start. Most likely with wrong Ph water.

First time autoflower and tbh this shit's hard. One mistake is like a punch to the kidney.
In soil you shouldn’t really have to ph the soil will do that for you

Seeds man Crital isn’t the biggest yeilder you done good tbh

Sometimes it does sometimes it doesnt. Got plants that work fine on unPhed water from the tap and others that will start dying after a week or just stop drinking. But when i Ph my water as a baseline I've seen a lot less issues in general. Not just for cannabis, but even my other veggies. Almost everything likes to sit in 6.5.

Got my next run getting ready now. Had some classic strains, now i want some of the inbred, so i got a Biscotti from RQS going into coco coir with an auto pot. Only popping one plant at a time until next summer.
