Hello! I have an outdoor landrace "Kalamata red" variety plant that has small black spots all over its fan leaf and iin lower areas even on smaller leaf, buds dont seem to be affected and i have seen some small black spiders jumping around from time to time... i remove the affected leaf but more and more seem to be affected all the time, i am in the last few weeks of flowering and i am worried if the buds mightt get infected as well... any ideas if i can do something about this? My security guard killed a fat intruder one day but i haven't found any other caterpillars Thanks!!

Looks like pests or fungal infection. You mention tiny black spiders jumping around. If these are actual jumping spiders, they are good predators. If they are spider mites, you got yourself an infestation.

Awesome picture of the mantis! You already have at least 1 predator to help eat those pests.

Wait for others to chime in, my knowledge is limited on outdoor grows (been out of the outdoor game for about 2 decades). In the meantime, I am sure everyone will want more information.

What is your growing medium? In pots (one image I see pots) or in ground, if pots, what size? What is your watering schedule and what supplements do you use and how often?

Might be Sap suckers like russet or broad mites; completely invisible without at least a 60–100× microscope.. Check undersides of leaves with magnifier or loupe for the little buggers

It looks like natural progression of yellowing. Are you in northern hemisphere? This time of year fan leaves start yellowing. Could be something else though. One of the experts will chime in.

When you zoom in you can see black spots witch looks like it’s from bugs there’s also some white spots I’d use a loupe & check the underside of the leaves the white spots may be mold if not bugs your plants definitely under attack from something

The bugs are sucking the life out the leaves if you get on top of it & do make it to harvest you’ll want to wash the buds

Look up bud washing on here when you do harvest or ask

Id rule out spider mites as the spotting doesn’t look like them however I don’t know about sap suckers like russet or broad mites

Thanks for your reply! I use soil with worm castings in 60 liter pots and i add liquid tomato fertilizer and molasses once a week.

I am located in northern Greece

I also saw what looked like a few miniature moths chilling on stems, but now they are gone, could it be them? Do you suggest washiing the buds in order to get rid of fungal spores? Could i be in danger if i vaporize the buds without washing? Thanks!!

Grab a Loupe and inspect the undersides of the greener leaves that are showing signs of damage or black spots! Just to make sure you don’t have thrips. What does the entire plant look like? Just curious because I grew an Arcadian last year! Good luck!😁 also on the fourth picture down. Looks like there might be a single egg on that leaf! Keep your eyes open for them too when you are inspecting!

Well it depends if it’s just bugs then you probably wouldn’t get ill from smoking them or there poop. The bugs would get stuck to the buds as would there poop.

If you have a fungal infection then yes you would get ill from smoking them.

I cannot say without being there if you do have a fungal disease

However I do lean towards it being bugs

You take different approaches to washing of bugs than you with mold

Seeing the whole plant would help narrow down if it’s just bugs alone or both

I grow inside so certain bugs like moths I don’t have experience with

I only suggest bud washing after you harvest not while the plants still growing

I’m sure more outside growers will pop in later

Ok, so i inspected several affected leaf with a loop, and none had any kind of life underneath, what i forgot to mention earlier is that i removed around 100 ants by hand about 2 weeks ago, here are some more photos to show the general condiition of the plant

“ Ants can be a problem for cannabis plants as they often protect and farm aphids, which feed on the plant's juices and can cause significant damage. To manage this, it's important to control both the ant and aphid populations using natural methods like cinnamon, neem oil, or beneficial insects.“

I don’t suggest you spray neem oil on the plant it leaves a nasty taste you can’t get rid of

As said ants farm aphids & hang around when there a food source

I am more comfortable saying you have a aphid problem since you mentioned ants albeit it may not be your only issue

Good luck bud

Right on! A lot of people don’t know that greece was a major player in the hashish trade back in the early 20th century! Got some good strains in Greece! If you have aphids, you should be able to see them easy! I haven’t found ants to be a problem, unless they are nesting in your roots! Take them to the finish line!👍

It is possible the ants eat them all especially if there was over 100 of them

Ants themselves do no damage

Anyway I’ve said enough

Hope you get to harvest & can enjoy the benefits of growing your own

Good luck & all the best to you & yours

The ants only consume their excrement! Honeydew! They don’t eat the aphids! At least the ants that Farm aphids! I had a pretty good aphid infestation a couple of years ago on a plant or two! You don’t need a loop to see them! Lol!

lol you had to teach me @Oldchucky & bring me back here ( I do thank you for clarifying)

@RoadKillSkunkHunt
@Captspaulding
@GNick55

I really do think you should be seeing bugs if you use a loupe so I’m out of ideas. Check in different areas.

If there is no eggs / bugs then your only left with it being fungal

These guys may help I tagged them so they will see it albeit I think capt might be away atm
