I'm thinking of using a 4 bucket hydro set up so I can grow to its full potential and then some, I think using the SUN is going to make this happen! . Anyone heard of this nonsense or tried this outdoors?? I live in Cali, if I grow my legal 6 plants outdoors and I'm using autos, I should be able to get 3 grows in one year successfully. Im Not so much interested in yields, more like extreme quality ! Yields just to last me thru the year.

Chilling roots will be needed.
Pest control, minimized for hydro growers indoors, will be a greater concern outdoors.
The sun is marvelous but I would look up the average DLI for your area and see. The biggest hurdle is landing in flower. Some locations always seem to drop temp and raise humidity at the wrong time. Right now the boards are seeing " should I chop now 5 days of rain on the way " just about every day.
Some places a good diablo light in a 4x4 works better than the sun.

I was using auto flowers. No need to worry about DLI. Also live in california sunny all day everyday. Hardly rains never snows.

Folks grow monsters in Cali. Read the posts saw the pics.
I am not sure the additional burden of an outdoor hydro setup would do much better.
Whatever you decide run a journal in diaries section!😎

That was my first thought. The roots will get too hot

I did tomatoes in 20L pot and used a solar panel air pump gave great results. They can drink when the heat comes
Mycos help the plant handle high temps and trichoderma kills anything that trys to colonise your water

If you are afraid of heat you can dig the bucket underground you would get huge termal benefits

Get yourself a greenhouse on amazon..less pest problems/ electricity problems and a little more controlled environment..but hell yes hydro under the sun works..
