Looking to get a tent for this winter. Normally I wouldn't even think about tiny plants in a tiny grow, but things are looking bleak for my monsters outdoors and I'm thinkin' I may need an alternative. My space would ideally fit a 4 by 6, and I wanted to go with AC Infinity, but they don't have one.
So, would it better, as a beginner, to have a small tent, 4 x 4, or find a 4 x 6 somewhere?

the more, the better, but it will depend on the temperature in the room. right now, the room is 21 degrees, and the tent is 21 degrees, and if I turn on the light, nothing will change in my case. A large tent is convenient because there is only one ventilation system

Hey c! Im not a tent grower as you know : ) but for what it’s worth id get the bigger one. Mainly for the room, you dont have to fill it up : ) also the taller the tent the more parameters your opening up for your lighting. ✌️

That's what I was thinking. I noticed everyone with super duper lights have them close to the top and turned down.
If I get the bigger tent, then I'll have DIY a system together.
Just wanted a perspective from the indoor crowd, but you count too. LOL

If i had the space like i used to at my old house i'd get another 4x4 or a 5x5. I used a upstairs spare bedroom for winter grows but i never had a issue with humidity. Get a light with at least 420watts from the wall. I had electric forced air heating but we used a woodstove to heat 90% of the time. And lots of rain during winter so humidity was always good. When you decide to pull the trigger on something we'll all give you our " opinions" LOL.

I still begin them under a small t-5 for at least 2wks then i move them into the tent and keep them about 30" from the tops at about 50% gradually increase.

Thanks for considering me part of the gang! 😆 not too many of us shed growers! hahah!

where would your tent be? inside the house where you have the hvac and all or garage or basement? some of that may help you decide also : )

Thanks so much Gal, I really don't want a super suped up deal, just want to do it right. At least the first time. LOL

I would opt for a bigger tent. I only assert that because who doesn’t want more room to grow? And while you switch modes and get dialed in, the extra space can help with headroom if you get a leggy one or don’t flip soon enough.

Okay, I'm ready to purchase, and the AC Infinity equipment and customer service has gotten alot of positive posts here so I'm seriously looking at them. They do not have a 4 by 6 which would have been ideal, but I took some shelving down and think the 4 x 8 will fit. And so will I, if I don't have desserts anymore. LOL Bedroom is small, 9 by 13 including the closet, but I can make it work.
Pic is an approx. where the tent would go. I'm a visual person and can't see things like this in my head so I mapped it out with the shelving. Shelving is 80", height of tent.

My only concern with the big tent is.... at some point needing to contend with unwanted critters (bugs) or disease and having to treat the whole thing. What'ya think? Or should I get 2 - 4 X 4s?

This used to be my craft room and it was packed full of 'stuff'. I've quit that, since I became old, and am trying new things. Like growing inside. LOL

2 4x4 would, to me, have a lot more useable space that a 4x8
In the 4x4 every plant can be reached by a door. At no time will you be farther away that 2 feet.
In a 4x8 the back side will have a 4 foot reach to the middle. Most 4x8 tens I see have a pathway and the tent basically cut in 1/2 with space not being used for growing but it will take energy to cool/heat/light/
Also imo and not having a 4x8 it would seem that such a large space will be difficult to not develop microclimates. Air flow will be very important.

When I place sensors in the upper part of the tent with canopy at 75 the top of the tent was 82 to 85 depending on how far from intakes. This with 4 fans plus a duct unit.

Thanks, that's the kind of advice and experience I was hoping for. Hadn't considered dead spots or uneven climate. And I know the lighting becomes tricky with overlap. I see some people like the detachable power supply/ballast to reduce temp. in the tent when the lights are on, is that an issue for you?

Not as of yet but I have not ran the whole lot at 700 watts before and my next grow may be close. Best thing is that all the temp and humidity generated by the tent is exited by the duct fan to another larger room.
Ok not quite. The Vivosun tent as part of the deal is not very insulated. ACI and gorilla are a much more insulated products and even Vivosun has better series tent.
But I'm working it😎
