I have no idea, I get dirt from my neighbor who collects his grass and turns it into compost.

Are you running indoor or outdoor
Biggest thing with living soil is having a good base to work with, I found the build a soil mixes really good, pretty much all of their options are really excellent, there’s other options as well but besides build a soil my recommendation would be to self mix your own.

It depends on what level you’re trying to go to, (of living soil of course) some go with simplicity, some go balls out, I’m kinda in the middle, I use my build a soil as a base normally, but can also be done just by using 1/3 compost 1/3 aeration 1/3 peat moss, add in to that your nutrients and your have a full deal, something like dominion Blend like I started the 30 gallon bags with can ride it out through veg and flower and never need a thing, then start amending after the first grow, I went overboard still and used build a flower etc on top during the first run but it grew some fire right out the bag, being $60 a cubic foot is pricey, but it was the cheaper option than buying everything to start. Imo the biggest thing is the bag size , you want an over abundance, that’s why I chose 30 gallon bags, 3 cu ft (3 bags per pot) filled the pots about 5/8 maybe a bit more, but you want that headroom for future amendments and top dresses as you build the soil run after run

Those in the 5 gallon buckets are more on the “organic” than Living soil

Some eye candy, thanks to living soil 😁

Random videos they looked cool in the thumbnail in my photo gallery 🤣

I have over 12,000 photos on my phone lol hard to find any this specific anymore haha

Oh my goodness.
I would like a healthy middle ground as well. Definitely organic atm, I'll have to give build a soil a look.. them little microbial thingies need some un-asked for attention. is this a hobby of yours, or a profession? Looks like a full time deal!

Also, if you ever get overwhelmed.. feel free to employ me as your personal basement gremlin. I will eat table scraps and trim/water the weed

Yes top water! I seed them heavy sometimes I’ll seed them twice maybe 4-5 days apart, work them into the top 1/4-1/2” of soil then the rice hulls, mine look like I needed to do more until after maybe a week or 2

Here’s some 30 gallons in the 4x8 the peas etc from the rest of my 13 seed crop came up but you can see the clover coming up sporadically in the pots, I found the best to sprout cover crop was to get your soil moist throughout then twice daily I water with my Chaplin sprayer

I like using th sprayer for this especially because say I put a gallon of water in the sprayer to split between 2 30 gallon pots, after watering dig into the top 3” of soil it’ll still be dry below that, when I water for deep water I remove the sprayer tip and soak the pot (flood the top quick) then let that sit, once I see the moisture meter in the bottom of the pot tick up once, then I put the spray tip back on and just water the top, that way I know I have moisture deep for the worms and microbes down there at the bottom thennI can focus on the top, you’re just poking to keep that top 2” super moist for a week till you see cover crop sprout, then is just light waterings for a week, then back to normal watering

Yes those are peas going up between the lights and nets lol
Oh ok. I see. I'm gonna give it a week and see how many pop up. If I need to I'll add some more.

I just got a Chapin. It only holds a gallon but I like it. It goes quicker and is easier for me to get the right amount of water for the plants.

Yep I use a 3.5 gallon Chaplin I love it, to water 2 30 gallon pots I just fill it to the top and alternate back and forth, counting 30 seconds then back to the other, that’s every 2-3 days once you have a plant running and drawing water

I be used a lot of sprayers all junk, this ones lasted years now it’s actually about 10 years old lol

Are you the staff member that makes hash out of all of it? I have between 1 and 1.5 ounces dry weight of flash frozen bud and I have no idea what to do with it.. I figured if you know how to make hash you know how to properly decarboxylate weed, I want to make tincture but have no idea what to set the oven at for decarb when it's flash frozen. If you can't help with this that's fine and sorry for posting in the obvious wrong thread, I just figured I'd ask on a hope and a prayer

Hey Mike, did I ever tell you that the weed grown on your property is absolutely beautiful?.. well it's PRETTY DANG GORGEOUS!
Wanna hear something crazy… I like to run lower power too, like find the plants limit then back off 10% so much less stress on the plant, you get major yeild just babying them, the soil if you keep up on it will always have what the plant needs at all times. You still feed based off plant life stage but it’s much more minimal, and has to be done ahead of time, like if I wanna add my Pushin P high phosphorus mix for flower, I add it 2-3 weeks before I want it to really be at peak point for uptake by the plant after breaking down

That's it that's the beauty of living soil is there's no burn because it's practically just a stable ecosystem of its own that the plant gets nourished by as it needs. I've always seen the heavier fertilizers as like HGH.. it looks nice but are they happy or are they hormonal as f. You are a dream, Mike

no worries I have this topic as an open discussion! Anyone can post anything they want here 😁

Heavier fertilizers are HGH, they might bat a record breaking average, but they are going home and crying to their momma, and that transports into it's evolution.. it can grow in HGH, but it can't live.
