Took down the incredibly pregnant Lazy Lightning last night just in time for the harvest moon. Funny thing about this plant, she’s hanging in a closet next to my turtle Bobby’s tank. I kept thinking she was a tad bit rank, like the turtle tank was dirty, rank. Which wasn’t the case,because I just cleaned it last week. Well after the third time of walking in there and noticing the smell, I realized that I had used a little hand held net to remove uneaten turtle food from the tank and never emptied it, it was sitting there right next to the closet door . Love the slider. I've kept some through the years but it wasn't until I got them outside in a pond that I really enjoyed keeping them. I also loved watching them eat goldfish

I had a painted box turtle as a kid until my dad thought he was going to pet it’s head and found out that turtles are definitely not slow at some things.

Yeah I found Bobby during the pandemic, was leaving a friend’s apartment and almost stepped on him, he was the size of a half dollar. He’s a snapper at heart definitely quick to eat the shrimp and pellets that I feed him every morning he’s got his head out of the water chomping at the bits.

Try giving him a few feeder goldfish. Plan on cleaning his tank after once he tastes that meat you'll be able to feed by hand I actually did feed mine by hand on occasion. Like when drunk

I wanted to release him at one point but I don’t know how well he would have adapted, and then there’s the countless dead turtles on the road that I see . I always pull over to help them cross regardless of the type or size. I learned that from my dad at a young age. Watching him drag a snapper latched on the a branch that had to be as wide as a baseball bat, otherwise the branch would snap with the bite. I have learned how to handle them so you aren’t dragging them across pavement. Just have to pick them up from behind between the front and rear legs and try not to react to them snapping at you.

I tried certain types of feeder fish but he wasn’t able to catch them that easily.

The California driver license meme is dead on

More than you know. Last month I drove my mom in her 80's to the DMV to get her license renewed. She has Alzheimer's. I told her I would not assist her in any manner at the counter... she would need to talk to them, read things and take the eye test all on her own because I did not want to be complicit in her obtaining a license in case anything ever jappened. Well she couldn't figure out how to use the eye test machine, the clerk assisted her. Then she couldn't figure out how to swipe her credit card and the clerk helped her with that. California issued her a license.

Dont worry, we don't let her drive. For someone who is suffering emotionally with loss of brain function, California issuing her a driver's license put a big smile on her face.

This is how participation trophies get us killed.

Thats near my old stomping ground. If you go a little further up to the Poway Road exit there's a little community called Sabre Springs and that was exactly where I did my guerilla grows as a kid. There was a storm tunnel that went from the West side to the East and there was a dry creek bed right there next to the freeway where that used to all be open field where cows grazed. The storm tunnel that went under the freeway had really elaborate graffiti art with cool dragons and demons and shit. I could see the cars from where my plants were so technically they were visible to everyone driving North on I-15 but you'd never know it was weed from that far away. Yes that's right, I proudly grew Mexican ditch weed!
