So as an experienced indoor grower, what would you recommend for a newb? Auto or photo?
A newbie may need to start with a Auto if the conditions are not 100% dialed in, because they're kinda forgiving....it requires little thought.
If advise: 3 gallon Fabric Grow BAG
Bottom 1.5 (trade) gallons should be Ocean Forrest FF and the top 1.5 Happy Frog. It's cooler than OF for the 🌱. As roots develop the OF will be essential, but start the auto in Happy Frog on the top half.
Do not amend it. I use flying skull nutes for photos, and Fox Farm Only on autos. 1/4 strength on everything the whole grow, do not over do feeding with Auto Flowers she has NO time to recover from anything.
Feed once weekly or diluted twice, keep it at 6.5 and just let it go. Til you learn the stages of growth, understand ppfd/rh/ CO2/ and all the tricky talk and how it all works together, autos.

Thank you! That makes sense, auto first, photo second. Also, layering the soil makes perfect sense. Do you add perlite or rice hulls?
I've kept your instructions and will revisit at some near future point. 😁

By far the OG Kush outperformed all the other strains as far as yield and quality. Runner up was my Royal Gorilla. My Lemon Super Silver Shining Haze is kick ass, but they only produced a few ozs a piece. Crème Brûlée was the prettiest by far, but had crap for yield. It’s some great taste, but yield isn’t worth the effort. I believe it was too susceptible to the elements outdoors. Chem’s Sis and Father OG did great. Modest yields and great flavors.
Question:
What is your favorite thing to do with your larf and sugar trimmings? This question is for all!!
Let’s get some great options!
I'm gonna make some oil with some of mine.

It looks like Autumn may actually happen by Halloween. The same time my Criticals should be ready. Sunny for the most part so maybe some smooth sailing. Fingers crossed.

My hands clenched up just thinking about trimming all day🙃 but you’re gonna have lots of test samples to help ease that little problem - have fun w it
Yes sir!!!! Been burping (& partaking) through the process! Man I have so many sugar leaves than I’ve ever had. Don’t know the reason. I need to make some good kief or hash, one….

I have a plant I started in May and I should have started in March or April. As Im in a Midwest state, temps here are too cold for my "experiment" plant. But, in and out if the house it goes. Thankfully I only have 1 plant. I too am new to this and had no idea what I was doing. 1 seed out of 7 made it to seedling. Queen #1 is the strain which is 50/50. Im fighting getting it ready so I can harvest.
My friend, if the close up picture was recent, you have a long way to go. Looks like the trichromatic conversion is just really starting to begin. White hairs too, could be indicative of your strain. Only thing I can say, be patient!!!
Hopefully it’s a great harvest and all of us want you to keep us updated!
What strain are you working with? Seed or clone?

Well it’s officially time to through a few in the attic now. I was gonna just run auto’s, but have decided to go with my photos and just shorten their window and LST the hell out of them.
Does anybody else switch to indoor during winter to have steady supply? I know I’ve seen a few people that already have a great setup. Any info is appreciated!

Hey just looking for some ideas: since some thieving assholes stole my plants this year, logic is they got my property marked to come back next year. Any ideas how to prevent a 2nd incident? I grow them in pots on the patio in the back of the house. Got electrical sockets and iron railings/gates. (These weren't locked this year, but even if they are, they're only 3 1/2 feet.)
Any strategies or techniques would be most appreciated!

My brother had something similar happen to him. They cut into his green house 2 nights in a row and stole the tops of 2 plants. To make it even worse he found out it was a neighbor, confronted him, was pushed by the individual, my brother slapped him, before saying not to steal from him. The neighbor filed assault charges and trespassing charges against him....Any who....to your point. Cameras, motion activated lights, motion activated alarms and what my brother did....animal traps on perimeter of property....a good bear trap.....deterence is a good thing. Good luck to you my friend.

Many thanks! I thought also of tripwires but motion detectors should do it.

They have them that turn night into day.
Also if you could set one up to play a clip of a Tommy gun firing.....with a camera so you can see the MF'er shit himself.
Most times the people who steal pot plants are someone you know....FYI

Careful what u use. Booby traps are illegal, but I can shove a 12 gauge barrel up your arse, legally.
We have the castle law in Ohio😆
Nobody knows your there, but the garden might be the greenest it's ever been the following season, if ya catch my drift.😉

Lay out a few boards with nails, covered in mulch or leaves... something. Especially if u know where they entered from. 👍

I can get down right medieval in thought of trespassers. My daughter is worse than I.🤣🤣

But I do have a school bell hooked to a trip wire. If tripped it allows electrical contact to active the alarm. It'll wake the whole neighborhood in the dead of night.

Kevlar fishing line is a must, too.

That's pretty bold to come up to the back of someone's house, like that.
Guaranteed it's someone u know, or they told someone they know.

I kept quiet about my grow, to all but my neighbor who grows, my wife, and my closest friend. Word travels fast, keep your circle small, trust no one outside that circle.

If your login means anything, can't you grow legally in Illinois? If so put a camera out there and catch who it is and report them, it's still theft, and trespass, even if it's weed.

If you don't already have a dog, get one ( preferably from your local shelter) i have 2 and they alert me even if a car slows down in front of the house. If anyone comes in the yard uninvited they sound like a whole pack of wolves. Also have security cameras for when I'm not home. Nobody's messing with my plants.
