This girl is about 8’ the pictures don’t do her justice. The circled bud is the one in the second picture for size reference. This is my first grow and just curious what weight to expect after she’s dry. Best way to cure, mason jars or bags and how many 1qt jars or 1oz bags would I need?

Ive always used mason jars, 3/4 full - cured for 30 days. I have some terpene sheild rh packs that I put into the jars, not sure how much they help.
Just have to check once in a while, burp the jars and make sure nothing is molding.
Couldnt say how many you'd need though.

You could weight at harvest. During the drying phase they lose about 70% of their weight. Could be more could be less but it gives an estimate. I can comfortably get 1oz dried bud in a 1qt jar with some space left. Hope it helps (:

I would get 2 one pound Grove bags and a mason jar or two to transfer from the bags into! Just two cents! 😁
Are you saying to cure and keep in the grove bags and just keep what I’m using in the mason jar? I was thinking about the grove bags, I seen a lot of people having problems with the ziplocks tearing loose. Do you think I would need 2? I’m new, I couldn’t even begin to guess the dry weight. I was just hoping to get around a half pound out of this girl. Do you think I can expect more?

I cure them in Grove bags! I’ve got shit that’s been in Grove bags for three years! The only reason I say two, is so you’re prepared in case you need the second one! I don’t like overfilling them! Also don’t like 50 mason jars! Although they are better long-term, and you can will them to someone when you croak!😂✌️ and I have a lot of Grove bags, both new and old and haven’t had a problem with the zipper! But I don’t use anything smaller than 1/2 pound! Maybe the small ones screw up more! Or maybe people are using the cheap knock offs!

I may order some today, I was gonna get some 1oz bags to share with some friends. I had seen some reviews on Amazon and on YouTube saying they tore loose and claimed to be the actual brand, I was just curious. Is it true they will cure without burping and hold the right humidity?

Been using Grove bags since they were introduced and can confirm that their zippers are terrible. Currently using the “cheap knockoff” (Sweet Decades) and tested against the Grove, with both holding the exact same rH. The SD does seem to have more static when first opening, and can’t attest to long term (as first grow I’ve used them).

I used turkey bags for a bunch of mine last fall and it has remained as well preserved as the mason jars I used.

If you put the weed in at the right humidity! But I’ve noticed that they lose humidity slowly overtime! But that might not happen if you vacuum seal them! I may try that this year! You need to be careful about the moisture content of your weed before you seal them up in anything! That can take a lot of manipulating! Grove bags are pretty forgiving! The curing and storing, there are a lot of ways to skin a cat here!

By all means, if they work, use them! I’m not sure where they’re made. I’ve got a hangup about not funding the Chinese war machine! I’ll pay a couple extra bucks and fund the US war machine! Become almost OCD when it comes to finding out where shit is made before I buy it!😂🍻

Yep. Tear loose where the xip lock attaches to the bag. Not a fan. Jars work well for me. Had about 15 last time. Easy to open/burp. Put em all in a laundry basket till cured, then into a closed dresser drawer.

Agree with the sentiment, but in my experience the zippers have gotten worse and I haven’t seen any indication that Grove is addressing the issue. I still use their smaller 1/4 & 1/2 oz bags. Figure it’s worth the extra money so folks have decent storage for a bit. But I no longer trust that the pound bags aren’t leaking.

Grove knows the zippers detach as they had videos showing how to use your thumbs to secure the zipper to the bag sides when opening - which I do. And a lot of the time it’s hard to actually tell that the zipper has detached since it’s just a small section that comes loose and not readily apparent. You actually need to test that the zipper doesn’t have an air gap, which then makes it more likely that you’ll create the problem you’re checking. Here’s the first bag I grabbed from a pile of old bags and you can see, where my thumb is, that the zipper glue has gone bad. (Granted a 3 or 4 year old bag. Personally I don’t reuse them as they seem to hold onto odor.)

Really wish they would resolve this issue, because I really like the bags and no way I’m going back to all the jars.

I definitely have collection (they come and go)
This was last season, 6 plants. If I have any left over at next harvest Ill usually make some butter, give it away or just toss it to make room.
