I have spent quite a few hours on absorbing many of the video based guides most of which use alcohol though did find some interesting techs using food-grade ethanol + dry ice.

It may appear that USP acetone is not drastically dissimilar to any of the techniques I've absorbed, correct? It evaporates quickly which can be done without heat or with heat.

Given one's acetone is of high quality, I cannot foresee an end-product that would be dangerous whatsoever at all...

Lastly, if anyone has any advice for me, please share. Ethanol would be fine except I'd be looking at around $300+ for 4 gallons. Acetone appears to be $200 for 5 gallons.

I even considered making a corn-mash + buying a still though so far have decided against it due to time involved of going from corn/sugar/water to 190+ proof solvent capable alcohol....

it sounds like you’ve put a lot of thought into this process, especially weighing the costs and practicality of each option. Acetone is definitely a solid choice as a solvent if it’s pure and of high quality, and it seems like you’ve already done the research to ensure it’s both effective and safe for your intended use. I’d just recommend double-checking compatibility with the materials you’re working with to avoid any unintended reactions. Regarding ethanol, I totally get why the price is a deterrent, and making your own high-proof alcohol can indeed be a time sink. If you’re leaning toward acetone, just make sure you’re working in a well-ventilated area and taking proper safety precautions. Best of luck—hope your project turns out great!

EDIT: Hey, at least I quoted ChatGPT.

We can agree that ethanol and acetone end product will taste different.meaning something stays inside.on the surface everything evaporated but inside a big ball of resin some stay

I think JJ reuses his alcohol
