Thanks for the sharpie method again! I use a dash of hydrogen peroxide when a seed sinks, you can see the bubbles of oxygen forming around the seed so they dont drown, but too much can be harmful, just a dash in a glass is enough every couple of days if it doesnt sprout fast. (Also stir gently after adding the hydrogen peroxide so it mixes well, the seed doesnt mind).
 
Also broken seeds -tend- to float due to air pockets inside even though they can sink if heavy enough. Big seeds also sink due to weight. Some people prefeer seeds to sink because that means theyre more dense and have more nutrients inside but in my opinion the size of the seed doesnt make any difference, the seedling will have food for more time thats all, doesnt really matter much since there's plenty in the soil.
