I take off any lower sites that won't make it to the top of the canopy around week 3. Once the top colas start filling in they won't get enough light. But some people like to keep most of them. It comes down to personal preference.

This is also strain related. White Widow had a great ability to take a 1/16 inch stem from way down and run it up through the canopy for a 5 gram flower run of about 3 inches. The Apple Fritter by week 3 flower if it was 12 inches below tops would not produce at all.

Fwiw I'm about to finish my 2nd grow and I decided to train 4 plants for 8 colas each. My 1st grow was a real larf lesson so what to do?? Go to the opposite extreme of course 😏. In my state of ignorance I removed too many of the nodes so I'm ending up with colas that aren't nearly as volumous as they should be IMO. I am thinking that I lost a lot of bud due to my ignorance.
These are Maui Wowie photo BTW. The bottom is from 9-28 and the top photo is more recent. The flowers are lacking volume imo.

I leave everything its good for edibles. But for smoking your just gonna have a lot of work trimming for a few grams

I would say these are going to pack on more weight in the next 2 weeks! Looks good πŸ‘πŸΌ

They are starting to cloud up so I'm thinking maybe 10 days to go. I'd like to harvest with few amber trichomes.
